do keep in mind some ISP sell you a package that says 100/20 Mbit
but its not clarified what speed...and how to measure it..
very often they sell you a local speed so 100/20 will be full local traffic and only a small part of this speed will be 40/10 World Area Network speed (internet) .... _________________ Atheros

he didnt have use external ip chjecked on ddns setting, i turned that on ddns seems fine now
That shouldn't be needed hooked to a bridged modem... never needed before.
Without 'check external IP enabled' it should just query the routers WAN IP
and in this case it holds a public IP anyways.
If 'check external IP is enabled' it should ping outside source for public IP....
good if used connected behind another gateway.
Wonder if the PowersThatBe have changed something with DDNS and causing the log spam???
hmmm, I'll have to shoot the r33006 back to the Broadcom box and tick the ' use external IP check'
see if that clears the log junk.
Did you ever get the spamming mess to stop in the log?
The spamming is still happening, but Wireless MAC Accept list and ddns is enabled. I might do some tests tonight to see what might be causing them (start from a reset and gradually turn things on).

It would be interesting to know what you find out.
I never had any MAC filters set on the broadcom unit and dont think that has anything to do with log spam

the spam is cause of entries in mac filter, they have to be removed not just disabled

They only appear when wireless is enabled (either or both 2.4 and 5ghz).
The only things I enabled after a paperclip reset were:
1. Syslogd and Klogd.
2. SSH (for easier /var/log/messages reading).
3. The relevant wireless SSID only. No wireless security, no mac filters set or anything.
The MAC addresses that get shown are sometimes wired LAN MAC addresses. I tried a number of things but couldn't pinpoint any specific setting that triggered it (other than having WiFi enabled and WiFi clients connected).
I finally received the router from the internet provider, a Telstra Gateway (Sagecom F@st 5355).
I tried that instead of the R7800 and I got 92/38 speeds (the R7800 was still around 92/29).
So I then decided to bridge the F@st 5355 to the R7800. So now I have:
Cable -> Arris CM8200 modem -> F@st 5355 -> R7800. Now I have 92/38 speeds through the R7800.
Annoying to have to have the F@st 5355 in the middle for no real use, but at least I now get what I expect from a performance standpoint AND get the benefits of DD-WRT.
Thanks for the info, Dave. Not sure what it all means but I assume there is some
buggy crawling around in the r33006 firmware related to this weird log spam.
