@Wetzel - Take some time and read through earlier posts in this thread. Anything later than r30432 will brick your router and require you to open it up and do recovery.

I have an A2 version of 880L. Using the recovery mode, I first flashed factory-to-ddwrt.bin (r30432). The router restarted. The power light turned blue while internet remained amber and WiFi LEDs remained off. Using DHCP I was able to connect and retrieve the router's IP address (192.168.1.1). Then I was even able to ping the router using terminal. But the only thing that didn't work was that the router webpage refused to open on browser. Therefore, I wasn't able to flash dir880-webflash.bin. Any clues?

I tried enabling SSH on the latest firmware: bricked the device. After making frantic efforts to erase nvram using serial interface, I was exploring dd-wrt's features. Enabled sputnik but realised I didn't want it. Disabled it using it's welcome interface: bricked the router again. Does anyone know which firmware version works the most stable?
I got my DIR880L A2 yesterday and decided to install b30432. Installation process was pretty easy and thankfully everything's running stable two days in. I went into the router's dlink webui and updated the firmware with factory-to-ddwrt.bin. Afterwards, I went into the ddwrt webui via 192.168.1.1 and uploaded dir880-webflash.bin.
So I went to go back to stock firmware recently I have tried multiple builds to do so 28788, 30432, 28397. I have a windows 10 pc using firefox. I try and set, using the web gui, a static ip address of 192.168.0.2 to the pc I am using with its mac address. I then check my ip config to see it shows "192.168.1.105(preferred)".
I have tried 30-30-30 resets on all 3 of these builds what would you recommend as the next course of action? I know that in order to get into emergency boot you need the static ip. Thank you so very much ahead of time.
I've upgraded to v3.0-r29837 std (06/06/16), D-Link DIR-880L Router is connected to my other Router which is the one connected to Internet through Wireless Connection.
The issue now is that I'm losing connectivity every few minutes.
I thought this issue was already resolved, or am I missing something?
Appreciate your feedback.
Kind Regards,
Hi,
Just want to check is the above issue has been resolved?
So I am going to take the plunge and install DD-WRT on the A2 version of the DIR-880L.
I'm going to try the 08-16-2016-r30432 build based on this thread recommendations.
Do I just use the D-Link website interface or the Emergency Room to load the factory to dd-wrt file?
And I'll ask again - does anyone have a recommendations on the Kong builds?
Thanks!
I may not be exactly correct about this, but from what I have read here for some times, the Kong builds are generally designed for Asus/Netgear routers, specifically the Nighthawk models.
As for the Dir880, I just got done installing the 30432 build without a single issue.
I removed the previous router, connected the new one, used DHCP to pull the ip/dns/gw, went to the GUI, then flashed with the factory-to-ddwrt. After that, had no WAN working at all, but this is normal (red light on Inet LED). Went right to the Firmware upgrade tab and put the full firmware on. Rebooted comp after the router rebooted, set the adapter back to static ip/dns/gw, set up wireless, encryption, VPN, etc, and all works perfectly fine.
Just a FYI, I chose not to do any hard resetting whatsoever. It is up to you if you want to bother doing that or not.
I also made sure to turn off SSH, Telnet and Sputnick, as well as some other things I know I won't use much just to be on the safe side. Telnet should be just fine, didn't read any issues with that, but SSH has been the major problem with bricking on many later versions and I didn't want to take any chances even on 30432.
And I'll ask again - does anyone have a recommendations on the Kong builds?

Hmmm. Well that's certainly nice to know then However, do you know if these Kong release support the new toys and features that were added to the new BS release, such as this DNSSEC\DNSCrypt I was reading about?

Kong and BS builds are based on the same source, so yes. They use the same SVN changeset references. _________________ #NAT/SFE/CTF: limited speed w/ DD#Repeater issues#DD-WRT info: FAQ, Builds, Types, Modes, Changes, Demo#
