Hey,

I have the Linksys E900 router and have had many issues setting up NordVPN on it. Is it possible for someone to send me a pre configured firmware with NordVPN already set up please?

Many thanks

From what I’ve read - some models have the fix in the latest beta version out today. Not sure which, though.
See Trac for more info:

Hi, thanks! I'm afraid there is still no firm for E900.

If i find another router with same chipset and memory, can i install it in the E900?

Sure there is a K2.6 build: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/10-20-2017-r33555/broadcom_K26/
And even a K3.x build: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/10-20-2017-r33555/broadcom_K3X/

Until recently K3.x builds were too large, this one seems smaller.

Read the build thread and see if someone succesfully updated your or a comparable router.

Read the peacock thread

Read the dd wrt wiki for your router (if there is one)

And always reset to defaults and put your settings in manually Smile

Thanks! What's the advantage of kernel 3 over 2?

K2.6 Kernel is no longer being developed but those builds are generally somewhat faster, although recent K3.x builds have SFE which speeds LAN<>WAN traffic.
K2.6 builds are often erratic when used as repeater or with VAP.
You could try both, I would opt for K3.x but this is just my personal opinion.

Thanks man!

I went with a k2.6, all good (being good equals to router not bricked, lol).

To go the K3 way i'd 30-30-30 flash any K3 with -E900 (dashed i believe it's called) and then update to the latest K3, right?

yes full reset and use the trailed -900 build from here: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/10-20-2017-r33555/broadcom_K3X/

And full reset after uploading the build

Always use the trailed build and stay on that no need to use a generic build

N.B. put your settings in manually do not restore from a backup

Hi everyone Smile
I'm having this problem with my E900 -- NO firmware can be flashed, can you imagine?

I do the hard/soft reset, get to the ORIGINAL linksys prompt with login/passwd admin/admin and can NEVER flash any firmware, including the authentic one from Linksys.

There was this observation in one of the posts that the firmware HEADER for E900 contains "E900" in the fist bytes, while the models sold in Russia (my case) have "E9RU" instead. However, just changing that in hex editor doesn't fix the problem. Someone reported it worked for them -- well, not for me Sad.

WHAT I'VE TRIED:
1) admin interface (standard) firmware upgrade: the upgrade process being at 8% there pops up "Upgrade failed". No matter what OS or browser.

2) tftp: it reports successful upload, but no effect on the router. Wait no matter how much time (per recommendations here), hard reset & reboot gives you the same familiar Linksys screen.

Seems like the router is unbrickable or something? Is there any "emergency mode" for Broadcom device where ONLY tftp upload would be functional?

Please, anybody, advise on what ELSE I can do. My, I'm even ready for extreme measures to wipe out this original Linksys firmware. Oh if it was as GOOD and EFFECTIVE as it is unbreakable and unflashable!

In fact, it offers VERY little configuration and NO real control over the device... Or I'm just spoiled by the rich choice in dd-wrt, you know.

All right, update on this one. Somehow I just hit the browser "back" arrow and got back to the firmware upgrade page -- the upgrade seemed to go on DESPITE that misleading browser message...

Right now it has kind of lingered at 98%... I'm waiting. Will see what comes next.

Well, this WASN'T 98% of uploading the firmware -- it seems to be just some GUI progress bar app running and showing progress with nothing REALLY happening in the real world of the router.

So I don't know what modification of this router I'm happy to own, but it seems unbreakable... or unflashable rather. Had to give up on this.

I had questions on what techniques you were using while flashing the E1200, did you resort in buying a new router?

I actually found NO way to flash it, had to give up! Thankfully, the device is not mine... But it's E900, not 1200.
