Caveats: Since this issue is only affecting one of my devices I believe it is likely a NIC card issue with my laptop. I have posted something similar in the Dell Networking forums, but I was hoping that someone here might have some advice. I apologize if this is not proper behavior here.
Symptom: Randomly, but around every ten minutes the wireless connection to my router drops out. This lasts for anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes before reconnecting. No action on my part is required to make this happen.
Analysis: I have never seen this behavior on this machine from any other network. Additionally, this problem does not affect any other device on this network. During the periods of disconnection the wireless network does not appear as an available network (like no SSID is being broadcast) while the other networks in my area do appear. If I use any other device to scan for networks at these times they will find my network and connect as usual.
Attempted Resolution: I have reinstalled several versions of the NIC driver. The version listed below was downloaded from the Dell website as the recommended version. I have tested several different router configurations changing the wireless mode, security, and encryption options, but none of those had any noticeable effect.
Router:
Model: Linksys E1200 v1
Firmware Version: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/27/13) mini - build 21676
Kernel Version: Linux 2.6.24.111 #15401 Mon May 27 02:21:37 CEST 2013 mips

I'm guessing that I'm SOL.
did you check the broadcom folders _________________ Router Model: Netgear R8000
Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r41813 std (12/29/19)
Modem: Super Hub 3.0
ISP: Virgin Media 350/35 Mbps
Thanks for the tip. I hadn't, but I have now and the result was the same. I will look anywhere else you point, but I don't have much hope left.
The install guide that you linked to says this :
Quote:
To find the latest builds, you can browse the DD-WRT file server and look for the broadcom_K26 folder, in there is the appropriate for your unit. Be aware that these are beta test builds and should be used with caution!
I checked a few folders and there is Broadcom_K26 folder in each that has the build for the E1200 V1.
This is the latest. Up to you if you go that high...
Sounds like your Dell goes roaming for a better connection every so often. Not a lot you can do to the router to stop it if it's configured in the Dell that way.
You do have the router wifi assigned a fixed channel right? _________________ Segment 1 XR700 10Gb LAN, 1Gb WAN ISP BS

In the Properties->Advanced tab of your laptop Wireless there may well be some parameter
that you can adjust for better connection reliability. e.g. Roaming Aggressiveness and or
some other parameter combo, you have to try it out. _________________ EA6900 v3.0-r52217 std ░ WZR-HP-AG300H-DD-WRT v3.0-r52095 std ░ WHR3-G54 v3.0-r29193 mini ░ WLI-TX4-G54HP ░ WBMR-HP-GNV2 ░ TL-MR3420v²
