Recently my friend asked me to diagnosis and fix reset loop on WHR-300HP2 and WCR-HP-G300 (both from Buffalo and Ralink based).
Reading from serial console, both seems fine (original firmware from buffalo) but right after it prints this on terminal. Router reset itself then reboot.
Code:
vlan0001: Setting MAC address to  xx xx xx xx xx xx.
VLAN (vlan0001):  Underlying device (eth2) has same MAC, not checking promisciou      s mode.
vlan0002: Setting MAC address to  xx xx xx xx xx xx.
VLAN (vlan0002):  Underlying device (eth2) has same MAC, not checking promisciou      s mode.

Since Im not DD-WRT genius nor professional. I tried many ways including installing dd-wrt / buffalo original firmwares. All seems failed on WCR-HP-G300 coz dd-wrt is way too big for that device (16Mb RAM). With WHR-300HP2, the reset loop is still there after a while running (like 2 or 3 mins something).
Somehow I figured out how to fix it (by luck). Lets take WCR-HP-G300 as example coz I have around 30 devices here got the same bug.

1 - Erase whatever it has in linux partition
Code:

 ##### The CPU freq = 400 MHZ ####
 estimate memory size =16 Mbytes

Please choose the operation:
1: Load system code to SDRAM via TFTP.
2: Load system code then write to Flash via TFTP.
3: Boot system code via Flash (default).
4: Entr boot command line interface.
7: Load Boot Loader code then write to Flash via Serial.
9: Load Boot Loader code then write to Flash via TFTP.

after installing DD-WRT firmware. login with root/admin then type
root@DD-WRT:~# nvram erase
root@DD-WRT:~# nvram commit
root@DD-WRT:~# reboot
unplug your device from power after it reboots

Final Step: reinstall buffalo original firmware
I rename the file wcrhpg300-106 to "a". Here is the log i have

Thats it. Your device revived. If it hangs after flashing, power cycle your router. It will definitely boot up.

Which version DD-WRT of WCR-HP-G300 use on this thread ? I use WCR-GN and follow this guide to recover my router but there are some issue :

- MAC address change.
- Bandwith decrease 50% : 72.2 Mbps at 20 Mhz and 150 Mbps at 40 Mhz ( measure with MetaGeek InSSIDer )
- Signal RSSI is very weak although nearby router ( -60 .. -70 )

300 Mbps router work w 150 Mbps now ?!? Question

Anybody help ? Tnx
