I am setting up a spare WRT54GL as a repeater bridge next door (friend's place) to give a stronger signal to our wireless. The best location signal wise will probably be their garage. Any issues with it being located in subfreezing temps and working correctly? In MN it can easily dip to 15*F in an average garage in the winter.

Cool temps are good for hw. Just be sure that humidity is low. Some router HW isn't make for high humidity.

The cold really shouldn't affect it much. The only problems that might arise is the humidity already mentioned and temperature swings that though expansion and contraction, make the crappy lead free solder joints crack over time.

With how cheaply you can pick up those original WRT54x routers on ebay these days I really wouldn't worry that much about it, if it fails in a year just replace it for $10-20

If you put it in a sealed weather proof box with some desiccant bags that should solve the humidity problem, and thermal stresses in winter since the heat coming off the router itself should keep in inside of the box moderately warm. You might have overheating issues in the warmer months though
