Hi,

My Netgear R7000 router keeps loosing Internet connection (wired and Wifi). About 3 times per day. Randomly.

I can still reach the router usually, but not WAN.
We can't ping 8.8.8.8 anymore
So I have to reboot the router and then I get access again.

Any ideas? Thanks!

NOTE: We did not have any problems before updating to Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r33986 std (12/04/17)

Do you mean doing this ? https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Hard_reset_or_30/30/30

Then do we have to reconfigure everything manually (yaiiks) or we can restore a backup?

For an R7000 telnet into your router and do:
Code:
erase nvram
reboot

And yes put settings in manually Sad

ok! Shocked

Mmm.. Would be nice to have a readable export or mods file between the default and the custom setup. This way from build to build it is easy to see what was setup in there.

Thanks for the tip... see you on the other side if it does not change anything.

UPDATE: So we completely reset the router and reinstalled from scratch with manual configuration. All clean and neat.

The router connection broke again this morning after the total update.

One of our team members thinks it might be related to WAN DHCP Lease Time because the last time it broke, we went to Status_Internet.asp an the Remaining Lease Time was 0:00:00. We just renewed and gained back our connection instantaneously.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Upgrade to newer build, I would suggest reading the build threads here on the forums. More than most likely the latest will work though, that router is still being used by the devs for testing.

This all happened without any human intervention

We never asked to stop WLAN, or whatever.

The time is a bug. The log is based on UTC and the router starts an NTP client after. The router then gets set to what every timezone you set in the GUI but the syslog daemon is already started by that time. It is all because of the boot order.

Hi, Thanks for your replies.

TTRAFF is also known to cause bugs and drops in some later builds. Not sure which ones are affected though. Disable it.

I disabled WAN Traffic Counter / ttraff Daemon ... will see if it helps.

When you get a DHCP lease from the ISP, how long is it for?

Not sure how to get the ISP DHCP lease time setup. Any command for this?

Does it appear to be constantly renewing itself over short periods of time?

When this happens
- I can connect to the router Web Interface with http, but not https (https times out).
- I cannot SSH into the router.
- I cannot ping any other IP than the router. (Any other LAN on WAN IP is returning Request timeout for icmp_seq.

- As soon as I go to /Status_Internet.asp , I see this:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/garlku1rwcm5dyu/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-05%20at%2008.39.01.png?dl=0

-I then do a DHCP renew... everything is back on track and I get this:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/z7y2sjzhhbwnn3q/Screen%20Shot%202018-02-05%20at%2008.39.55.png?dl=0

Sometimes I click on DHCP renew again, and the lease time will be or 1h, or 1 sometimes day. Weird
