The Jtag article in the wiki fully explains how to make a jtag cable.

When was the last time you looked at the wiki for that information?

I have noticed in a few threads people have said certain things are missing form the wiki now.

I am looking for the DB25 conections.

the best picture I could find (not in the wiki) was something that redhawk posted.

EXACTLY the same picture as is linked in the wiki:

WIKI

D-SUB-Plug JTAG
Pin 2 -------[100Ohm]------- Pin 3
D0 TDI

Pin 3 -------[100Ohm]------- Pin 9
D1 TCK

Pin 4 -------[100Ohm]------- Pin 7
D2 TMS

Pin 13 -------[100Ohm]------- Pin 5
Select TD0

Pin 20 ---+------------------ Pin 6

Pin 25 ---+

The other one shows pins 18-25
Does 20-25 vs 18-25 matter?

"Exactlly"?
Or are there a few of these?

==============================================
EJTAG Debrick Utility v3.0.1 Tornado-MOD
==============================================

Probing bus ... Done

Instruction Length set to 5

CPU Chip ID: 11111111111111111111111111111111 (FFFFFFFF)
*** Unknown or NO CPU Chip ID Detected ***

*** Possible Causes:
1) Device is not Connected.
2) Device is not Powered On.
3) Improper JTAG Cable.
4) Unrecognized CPU Chip ID.
-----------------------------------------------------

Ohm'd connections = approx. 100ohm

I used the wiki connections.
I measured the cable for near 100 ohm

I have continuity from bottom of board to head pins
I do not see (tested for as well) shorts.

I am guessing this thing is toasted?

I have the DB25 male pins 20-25 connected together and the grnd on the router connected to these (without a resistor)

Do I need it to be 18-25 connected?

wiki jtag cable guide says 20-25

Which do I use?

Does it make a difference?

To make jtag cable you will have to see diagram as the back of male DB25 connector, then solder according it and you will be fine. And yes, it makes difference.

Ty

The 20-25 shorted pins on the back of the db25 did not work.

I am waiting for a tool Tornado has linked to on his profile.

I had made a cable using cat5e cable but I will just wait for this tool so I dont make too much waste.

TY for your input.

I have a Belkin PlayMax router (F7D4301) with BCM4718A. I could debrick this router successfully with Tjtag 3.0.2.1 and dlc5 cable.

The processor was identified by Tjtag as BCM4716 rev1.
Flash (MX29LV640EBTI-70G) was not automatically detected.

With the following switches & options I could successfully erase the NVRAM:

tjtag3 -erase:nvram /byte_mode /fc:160 /cable:dlc5

note: without the /byte_mode switch, the erase did not work.

.... maybe this will also work with F7D8302.

I bought a TUMPA, TIAO USB JTAG device. I have tried to get the right connections but I think my problem is I don't know which pin is Pin 1 on the router. Is it the Square one?

Also, don't give me a lecture on don't use a USB Jtag device. I do not have access to a parallel port, so this was the only option.

I have the same router, would you please post a photo about the connection on the router board (the jtag connection) and the cable diagram? I am trying to get it to work but no success.

Thank you!

The 14-pin unpopulated pads should be JTAG, I am not sure though, it is either that or the 10 pads (less chance).
