Hi all, just reading the following article https://teledom.gr/…/dd-wrt-wrt1900acs-v2-upgrade-downgrad…/, when I originally installed dd-wrt yesterday does it wipe out the original linksys firmware or write the dd-wrt firmware to a different boot sector (currently dd-wrt seems to be on boot 1)

dd-wrt is written to the partition other than the one you upgraded from within Linksys firmware. However, if you upgrade again from within dd-wrt, using dd-wrt webflash image then the Linksys firmware on the earlier partition would be overwritten. _________________ WRT3200ACM - Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r35681 std (04/06/18).

@tomos
I would strongly urge you to read the threads in my sig if you have not already. Will save grief and having to ask questions that have been answered so many times that folks are tired of answering the same answers over and over. _________________ Unifi Security Gateway:Unifi Firmware Netgear r7800:Voxel Firmware Modem:Netgear CM500V voice and Data. thanks for the replies appreciate the fast replies, I have read the posts in the signatures you mention I even have them saved in favourites I was just airing on the side of caution and double checking the latest thoughts of the group.
Last question this instruction is safer to be carried via cable and not wireless (This isn’t as important as it once was as the newer DD-WRT versions have the ability to return to Linksys OEM. Simply upload the Linksys Stock Firmware from DD-WRT GUI Administration Tab – Firmware Upgrade Sub-Tab. (Same as you would upgrade DD-WRT))
