Dear all, just wanted to share some experience in using Netgear R7500v2 as a NAS storage device. So far I'm satisfied with the samba speed, however I don't now if my results are good or bad.

Happy to have your results as well for comparison.

Setup:
Router: Netgear R7500v2
Build: DD-WRT v3.0-r34900M kongat (02/14/18 )
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Laptop: Lenovo x1 Carbon 4 Gen (Intel AC wireless 7265/Gigabit Ethernet)
Same spot for laptop (e.g. 5 meter from router)
No 5Ghz networks in the neighborhood
Test file size: 700Mb avi file
Test partition FS: ext4 with journaling disabled
Testing was done through Samba attached network drive (read: copy from network to desktop, write: copy from desktop to network drive)

Samsung SSD 850 EVO (500Gbyte) - to keep
Iocrest SATA6G to USB3.0 adaptor (6GB/s claimed)

Lan connection (1GB/S)
Read: ~80Mbyte/s
Write: ~80Mbyte/s

Wireless (5GHz 866MB/s):
Read: ~31Mbyte/s
Write: ~39Mbyte/s

SANDISK ULTRA® USB 3.0 FLASH DRIVE 128Gbyte
Lan connection (1GB/S)
Read: ~39Mbyte/s
Write: ~32Mbyte/s

Wireless (5GHz 866MB/s):
Read: ~31Mbyte/s
Write: ~27Mbyte/s

I've also ordered a ugreen eSATA to SATA connector to try since eSATA gives higher writing speed on Atheros based hardware based on other forum feedback.

Will be great if you can also share your results just by copyin 700mb AVI files back and forth to SAMBA share.

Hello,
I was wondering, did you ever get that eSATA to SATA cable and try it out? I have used them on my R7500v2 with the stock firmware and they work great, however I can't seem to get my HDD to mount over eSATA with DD-WRT as I said here.
If you did manage to get it working, what version of DD-WRT were you on, and how did you do it? I can't seem to figure it out.
Thanks![/url]
