I'm having trouble flashing to DD-WRT. After flashing, the router reboots but the power light stays solid orange. I've only been able to get it back with a 30/30/30 reset and uploading the stock firmware over tftp.
It seems like it's not resetting the nvram because when I reflashed the stock firmware, my settings were in tact. I also tried doing a factory reset before flashing the second time and it didn't work.
I'm using hardware I received in a Netgear beta test before the R7500v2 was released. Maybe it's having some compatibility issues, but it works fine with the latest Netgear firmware. The router looks identical to the release version.
I just dragged my Beta R7500v2 out of the closet and decided to play around with it to see if I could get it running as an AP on my network. It works, but is stuck on the 1.0.0.16 beta firmware. Router FW check shows an update available, and it downloads, but then indicates “incompatible”. I suspect that it is a board ID issue/change between the Beta and final release. Kongac builds also will not run.
I would love to test that theory, if somebody here might be able to post the Retail board ID? I would try using ‘burnboardID” command to change it. If correct, then my R7500v2 should start accepting the stock updates...as well as allow for Kong dd-wrt build.
(As an aside, I just upgraded my R8000 to latest Kong build, and it is working WAY better as an AP than the NETGEAR stock. Love the configuration options! I would love to be able to do the same with the R7500v2 I have...it was free. If I can’t get that working correctly, I’m thinking of picking up an R7800 refurb on Amazon...)

Thanks!
No burnboardID board ID yet, but noted that R7500v2 Engineering Sample is 256M RAM versus Retail R7500v2 being 512M.
In any case, pulled the trigger and ordered a refurb R7800 from Amazon. Packed up R7500v2 Engineering sample and put it back in the closet...

As I think about it, you are probably correct about burnboardid being Broadcom specific. I was grasping at straws anyway, as it just seems such a waste to have wave 2 hardware, and no new drivers on the R7500v2 Engineering sample....plus, it WAS free from the Beta. If get sufficiently motivated, (and find the time), I still may look into tweaking my own mod to try...we’ll see. In the meantime, I’ll focus on my new R7800 coming tomorrow...it will most likely replace my R7000 main router.... I’ll keep my R8000 as AP, and probably move the R7000 to replace the R6400 AP.
R8000 and R6400 running as AP’s with dd-wrt Kongac are awesome....no hiccups at all other than some initial misconfiguration on my part. Got it sorted and I can definitely tell you my wi-fi network is running much better now over using stock FW. Plus dd-wrt app on iOS is WAY better than bloated NETGEAR Genie and/or using plain web browser on my iOS devices. I’m sorry I didn’t get onboard with dd-wrt sooner!

Hi guys,
I have a Netgear R7500v2 Nighthwak wi-fi router and I just discovered that Netgear has not yet released a firmware version that plugs the KRACK problem on WPA2.
I was looking into flashing it with DD-WRT firmware, but can someone in this forum tell me if this latest firmware is KRACK safe ?
