I've got the Dlink DIR-862 with v3.0 firmware. It's in a noisy area (lots of WLANs and interference).
What would be the best options to improve range and reliability? I'm willing to sacrifice as much speed as needed since the systems that MUST work only transmit very small amounts of data. They are also older systems using a Windows XP OS (yes, I know, I don't support these systems) and I think just G (maybe N draft) wireless.
Important settings are Short GI (optional), Short Preamble, Tx Power (semi-important). I would suggest finding the best channel and if speed is not a concern, drop the channel width down (half or even quarter). _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Some dd-wrt wiki pages are up to date, others are not. PM me if you find an old one.
