I've used 33607 for a long time without any problems (both wired and 2.4GHz and 5GHz).
Currently I'm on 34578 (since 4 weeks) and also don't experience any problems.

Bought a vintage TL-WDR4300 v1.3 and tried some versions >=34411, but 3G-WAN does not work. I get a WAN-IP-Address, I can ping Websites - name resolution works - on the router's cli, but I get no connection via Webbrowser.
I might just be missing something but are there generic builds for Atheros based devices like there are for Broadcom based ones? I'd like to run a Mega build for the TL-WDR4300v1 but std is all that seems to be available.

Hi kpmartin
I just acquired a TP-Link -WDR4300 and I came upon this thread and your post. Can I ask you to reiterate, in a bit more detail, whether you have a fully functioning unit with the 'Firmware Version DD-WRT v3.0-r35244 std (03/05/1'. I notice that there is a mention in the next post to yours that the poster has no Web Access. ( I know his is a slightly higher version number) but I do not want to 'brick' my unit with a questionable Revision. I would appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks...
Robert
I just bought a TL-WDR4300 v1 and flashed it to v3.0-r36104.
Looks pretty stable so far.
I use it as a repeater and managed to set it up using these instructions https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Repeater_Bridge.
One thing to note, it only worked after I changed the SSID for the virtual interface.
I plan to tweak a little bit the Tx power and channels. Could anyone recommend a wifi analyzer for iOS/windows?
