Hello,
I have the router from the subject and I wanted to update the dd-wrt firmware.
I downloaded the right firmware, strip headers as in instructions (with dd on linux) and upload the new firmware from ssh (sysupgrade -F new-firmware). I couldn't upload through web interface because I got an error which I ignored (this was first big mistake).

In the ssh shell I got no error, just it said at the end restarting... and that was all.
Now when I power on the router only the power led is steady. All other leds are off.
Many users say the router enters an ending restarting process, this is not the case, only the power let is blue.

I tried the recovery method using tftp server but it dind't work (I got no message in tftp server log console, also in wireshark I don't see the message related to 192.168.0.66).

What can I do? Is it dead forever?

Thanks

TP-link's have a built-in TFTP recovery: https://openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wdr4300#flashing_via_tftp

You need to rename the factory firmware file to that listed on the wiki page I linked to. Then on your computer (using TFTP32/TFTP64) host a TFTP server on 192.168.0.66 (static ip set on the computer). Then plug in the router (with the ethernet cable already plugged in) and see if the router grabs the file from the TFTP server.

Thanks for the reply. I already done that (using both tftp server on linux/windows) and I don't see any message in tftp console. In seams that the router doesn't try contact the tftp server.

Could it be possible?
I also sniffed the traffic with wireshark on pc and nothing from the router.
Could it be completely dead?

Only the power led is on, all other leds are off.
Thanks

Try and connect a serial cable (USB-TTL 3.3V) to the router. It requires opening the case and hooking it up on the inside but it should work. Settings should be found on the link I posted above.

You will need a device such as this: https://www.adafruit.com/product/954

When it says "Autobooting in 1 seconds", that is when you need to start pressing CTRL + C several times. You will know when you get the timing right, it will interrupt the boot sequence and leave a prompt ready for you to type a command in.
