So my question was basic. Now to expand.
And not sound like an elitist. Offering many links.

I hope with the firmware installed to use within a free wireless configuration.

An example McDonald's to connect with the routers described to extend wireless and most of all making the Ethernet port active .

Important making the Ethernet port active and wireless extended.

Using this with other firmware a scan option was available to find Host.

You can always convert client mode to repeater mode to add wireless clients.

The biggest problem you *may* have is captive portals. That's those login screens these free wifi systems often make you go through before you can get established. And so you *may* need to connect your client directly to their system initially just to get established, then clone that device's MAC address to the virtual WAN of the client/repeater mode router.

IOW, captive portals (which are outside the control of the router) are more often than not the fly in the ointment for this kind of config. And why some ppl don't necessarily find it convenient. The other stuff mentioned (supporting wireless clients, scanning for wifi, etc.) shouldn't be issues.

you get it !!!!!!!
you understand .-)

But I Need FACTS .... not what I "could" ::: convert client mode to repeater mode

1.) what do settings ?
2.) will I have Ethernet port active with WIFI connect ??? (like WISP)
3.) how do i SCAN for wifi NODES that offer free wifi ?
4.) how do I "ACCEPT authentication logon" of free WIFI sites ?
5.)

This is the OP and what this post is about. I am asking about supporting wireless clients, scanning for wifi, etc.

What are the step-by-step. someone must have done this ????

the authentication logon 99% of use for a nano ROUTER. tHE need to connect wifi and have RJ45 active device connected.
