The latest builds don't work at all. Unfortunately I couldn't get logs because it literally just crashes straight in the bootloader repeatedly.

Same here. Already tried all the available builds on my 1043ND v4, from r35831 to the latest r36154. None of them works.
The first few builds doing bootloops, the latest are simply turning on the power and WPS leds only, without any other signs of life.
The tftpd revert to factory fw and the LEDE are works. Hope to DD-WRT will be soon...

Build r36104 is only one wich i succesfuly flash via tftpd. Looks like you should wait a little bit more.
I just noticed that CPU always load over than 50%, maybe it is ok for this CPU. My old 1043nd V.1 usually load around 5%.

Not working for me. I also tried to flash latest r36168 but nothing happens after router pull file from tftpd, just reset itself and stuck on power and wps light.

Hi.
I tried on my v4:
07-16-2018-r36330
06-29-2018-r36247
06-27-2018-r36242
06-10-2018-r36104

all factory-to-ddwrt.bin flashing with the webupgrade from original firmware "wr1043ndv4_eu-up-ver3-16-9-P1[20160607-rel58297].bin".
Everytime it broke my router. No reboot. Stuck in Power-ON LED and i think "WPS"-LED after the first reboot.

After every attempt i reflashed with tftp "wr1043ndv4_eu-up-ver3-16-9-P1[20160607-rel58297].bin"

Now i flashed for the first time LEDE"lede-17.01.4-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr1043nd-v4-squashfs-factory.bin" and it rebootet fine.

Hopefully there will be in future a flashable dd-wrt-version. LEDE is a bit too complicatet for me.

None of the new firmwares work.It boots for 2 sec and restars.I had to TFTP flash openwrt (dev release) and its working just fine.
Please fix the firmware because i prefer ddwrt.
tldr: Dont install its waste of time untill they release stable bin.
