Hi,

I have an issue after upgrading firmware.

My router isnt responsive at all. I tried reset (30/30/30) and reset with WPS button with no luck. I'm not able to ping 192.168.1.1 with static ip

When I'm trying to put the router in recovery mode, nothing happens. Power led is solid since the start, not flashing at all.

Any idea ?

Thanks

Did you turn off the router while the firmware was
being uploaded?

Method one:

Never tried it myself: Method two:

Yeah, power outage during the upgrade.

My problem is if I do this

Quote:
2. Set your router into recovery mode(rescue mode) by turning it off using the power button, than push and hold the reset button(the tiny little switch between the WAN and the USB ports) and turn on your device again. Keep pushing the reset button and wait until the power led will lights up and turns off again(actually it start to blink slowly, with a 25 seconds interval), now you can release the button.

This never happened. Power led is still solid rock from the beginning. Never starting to blink. I can wait 2 min holding the reset buton after turn on my router, same.

Maybe try serial recovery. If that doesn't work, it's time for a new router.

My RT-N18U enters recovery when I hold reset only about 5 seconds after powering it up.
Set static IP for your PC such as 192.168.1.2 and then try to access 192.168.1.1

Setting a static ip won't make a difference in entering recovery mode. If the power led never flashes I suspect the cfe is messed up. That's why I suggested serial recovery. Then he can see what the output is.

Oh ...

I know whats happened. It's not power outage relative. My roomate said he messed up with overclock setting before upgrade.

My bet : now, router isnt booting because of this.

Well, I will buy one cable.

Thanks

When you say you tried reset with was how are you doing it?
Turn off the router. Hold in the wps button and turn the router on. Keep holding the wps till the power led flashes.
If that doesn't work, see what serial output shows.
Google dd-wrt serial recovery. I have the type of cable linked in there that I've found works the best.

I have the same result when I turn on the router holding WPS or reset : no blinking, solid blue power led

Other question : i need to buy FT232RL FTDI USB To TTL or RS232 FTDI USB to TTL ?

this can work : https://www.electrofun.pt/review/product/list/id/714/ ?
because i can buy this one and receive it tomorrow

No, 2 minutes is long enough. Lol

I bought 2 of that kind and they didn't work. So now I buy this kind.
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAA0C5301215&Tpk=9SIAA0C5301215

I buy them from eBay though. Get it where ever is quicker.

I don’t know. Google uart to usb. I advised to get the one I linked. I didn’t say you had to get it from there. Get it from whoever can get it to you sooner.
