I have both routers. R7000 has more support from the community so it is running FreshTomato ARM and is doing better as a repeater bridge (wireless ethernet bridge in FreshTomato terms).
Other than that, they are both very similar. The R7000P runs little cooler 69C vs 75C for R7000.

With the latest DD-WRT update on the R7000P I now have NitroQAM (QAM1024), all available 5GHz channels (now includes lower channels), Multi User Beamforming and VHT80 Channel Width.
