DD-WRT uses a self-signed certificate, just like OpenWRT now does, just like Ubiquiti, and others now do. Use a separate browser in private browsing mode with no extensions loaded and accept risk/add exception if you are going to use HTTPS access. You will have to do this every time you close out/logout and re-access the webUI and the certificate changes every firmware upgrade.

There is a way around this:

Change SSL cert for HTTPS certificates (read the ENTIRE thread)

Add letsencrypt certificate to dd-wrt web interface

Create and Apply SSL Certificate to DD-WRT Web Interface

Create and Apply SSL Certificate to DD-WRT Web Interface (YouTube video for above 3rd-party how-to)

Let's Encrypt SSL Certificates for DD-WRT

DD-WRT Custom Certificate

Waoh Confused

This seems too much complete for me.
One precision, English is not my first language and it is difficult to me to understand every thing, it is why I use only my words, those I presume I uderstand.
All this litterature is complex for me as I am not a computer / programing expert.

For example I do not know why the DD-WRT IP mention a /24 or /32, for example 192.168.1.1/24 ???

I can use simple ways but entering deep in the system will lead to accidents and hours to correct.

I would have liked to obtain the simplest way, for example to have a let's encrypt certificate for my DD-WRT. For my NAS Synology I had just to have two or three things to do to obtain it and make it work like rerouting of ports.

For the link 1 : I'm not able to extract what to do from that
For the link 2 : seems sympathic but I am immediately blocked by "Use portfw to forward port 80 and 445 to the ip of the computer where you have certbot installed" --> what certbot ? Where it is located ?
For the link 3 :XCA ? PKI Database ? May be I can follow but where to put all these files ? On one computer or on my NAS ?
For the link 4 : what different from link 3 apart the video is too quick ?
For the link 5 : seems simple but it is not self supporting (too much links without understanding what to do !).
For the link 6 : what is acms.sh and from where can I take ot ? It seems that it uses a computer apart from the router for the console ?

I am conscious that to obtain what I want I must do some efforts but my inexperience in such subject make me frightened by all these readings : where begins? which steps follow and how ?

By reading the above, I am sure that you will be disappointed but I have made the effort of reading everything but whithout being able to extract a simple way to achieve it.

I am still wondering what is the best way to obtain this certificate.

If you or somebody else can help me in that way thanks.

Anyway happy new year 2024

Difficult for me but I try.

I have used the link 3 (the video corresponds to the link 4 and I don't understand what ie the difference).

Until PuTTY..
The PuTTY to use is not well indicated; do not use the .msi one, it is only the generator.
The best is to choose the zip file inside which there is Putty.exe

However I can't connect my DD-WRT with it's user name and password ! [the interface is difficult, we cannot see what we type!).
I also try to connect with WinScp but it is refused; and yet I'm logging in with the username and password for my DD-WRT!

Command line (putty) username is always <root>
Password is the same one you set for Webif.

Sorry, but what is Webif? in this case ? DD-WRT login ? If yes the password do not match "root".
