After doing sone little research, QSR1000 seems to be supported from kernel versions 5.x, see e.g. https://www.kernelconfig.io/config_qtnfmac_pcie .


Is it possible to patch the Quantenna kernel driver from 5.x to 4.4.x (that DD-WRT is using)?

I have previously had discussions with BrainSlayer regarding the Quantenna hardware in the RT-AC87U specifically and was told that the upstream in-kernel driver does not support the hardware. This is a completely different opensource mac80211 driver, but not sure if it is the one in use currently in the DD-WRT source tree as the KConfig file does not seem to match the config option:

If it is the same driver and bits, and it's still not working with current Kernel, then it might just be a pipe dream. Anyhow, I will submit this up the food chain for review.
