Hello,

I think I have found quite a problem with dd-wrt.

I have managed to destroy 2x eoc-5610's with the following software procedure:

I had the EOC's set up as client bridges, I was experimenting and changed one unit to AP mode and then pressing apply - killed it:

Symptoms are no LAN, Power light on and faint WLAN light.

I thought it was simply an unlucky hardware fault - until preformed the same configuration on the second unit - did some tests in client bridge mode, switched the unit to AP mode and bang ! same results dead unit.

My provider wont replace the units because they have dd-wrt on them even though the product box says 'dd-wrt' compatible.

I was using the supplied poe, everything was working - I wasn't working with cables and plug the wrong end in or anything like that.

What can I do ? I cant afford to be loosing units like this.

reflash the units via redboot

Thank you sash - I shall try this.

One little question semi related. I had an old buffalo untit set as an access point and I couldnt get the eoc units to join the network - they would for about 1 sec then drop the connection - is this a typical scenario for different chipsets ?

Thanks

Hello again Sash,

Thanks for the wiki pointer I have read it through.

Back to my first problem.

I have been unsucessful at reloading the firmware using redboot.

I have noticed however that neither of my eoc devices have an active LAN port when switched on.

They simply power on straight away :no actvity on the lan port & the WLAN light is at 40% brightness.

I have spoken further to my provider who simply says this is a know issue with dd-wrt on this model!

Any further suggestions ?

sounds pretty simple. wan is enabled. device in ap mode. voila. ethernet port is a wan port now and you cannot reach it anymore with ethernet since it is a way port and waiting for dhcp from a dhcp server
