I just received a WZR-1750DHP and could not flash update it with 22118 factory-to-dd-wrt.bin via the factory GUI. It rejected the build reporting that it was older than 2.04. The current version on my router is 2.09.
I assumed (maybe incorrectly) that the flashing could be done directly from the factory GUI. How have others cut-over to DD-WRT from the factory firmware? TFTP?
Also, does anyone know where to find the serial pin locations on the circuit board?

I'm also interested in flashing this build, but read that another user bricked his wzr-1750 router. Has anyone successfully flashed this build to Buffalo's 1750?
I used DD-WRT on a WRT54GL for a number of years followed by an E3000 which I upgraded to a few years ago. After a power surge my E3000 is bricked. I decided to take a leap and buy the Buffalo 1750. The hardware seems to be impressive and it has received great reviews. I am going to give the firmware a shot but there is a good chance I will be interested in flashing DD-WRT onto it eventually.
The issue that I saw someone had was that the router bricked after changing the IP. Has anyone used DD-WRT on it without changing the IP? Is it stable outside of that issue? Looking at the wiki it appears that Buffalo routers are usually flashed using tftp initially.
I'm looking forward to this router becoming supported.
Yes I did use build 22118 factory-to-dd-wrt.bin. The factory GUI update code rejected the file. It made me think that additional update file checking is being done by newer factory builds.
I'm the person that made the posts about the WZR-1750DHP. I've bricked several of them now. I no longer believe it's related to changing the IP. Rather, I believe it's inherently unstable, as they tend to brick on reboot.

Yep, same thing here, 3 bricked. I don't have the resources to do a console cable and investigate further.
I'm switching to the Asus AC66 as it's been stable for me.
I could get someone a WZR1750 if they commited to get console and make it work, but I could not find anyone.
Hey, I just bought a Buffalo WZR-1750DHP, and I was curious if there has been any changes to the status of the 1750DHP software, as apparently in the old build (r22118) it appears that many users say it bricks the device. Has there been any software developments for DD-WRT for this device?
I can confirm the WZR-D1800H works fine with that specific firmware but the 1750 does not. I am wondering if trying to flash the D1800H firmware on the 1750 will yield any results? They are very similar in design and Buffalo's website loads the 1750 (but URL reads 1800)...

This post does not solve the problem. However, there is a similar problem for wzr-600dhp2 and wzr-900dhp. I posted a possible reason for the incompatibility. It is due to the zentel flash memory. Please seach my post using wzr-900dhp in this forum. I also wrote another line in a post for wzr-600dhp saying that zentel flash memory may be the cause.
