Any help or comments would be much appreciated.
See peacock thread (link HERE), specifically the first two paragraphs of note #1 might be worth a peek.
Just for grins, i'd read all the notes listed in BOLD at the top _________________ reenignE esreveR

Hello everyone,
<...>
I've tried to TFTP the following files without success:
1-FW_EA2700_1.0.14.129982.SSA
2-FW_EA2700_1.1.40.162751_prod.SSA
3-dd-wrt-25628-ea2700.trx
<...>
All this was done using xubuntu 14.04 and tftp 0.17-18ubuntu2
The TFTP protocol used for CFE seems not implemented with standard linux tftp command. Indeed, with a wireshark I've seen that the admin password is sent in addition of each TFTP frame.
So, the only "tftp" tool that works that I've found is the Tftp.exe from windows I've found somewhere in linksys forum.

I grabbed a laptop with win7 and did the following:
assigned static ip 192.168.1.5/24
gateway 192.168.1.1
dns1 192.168.1.1
disabled wifi
no AV running
disabled FW
started the TFTP.exe app and inputed:
Server: 192.168.1.1
password: <blank>
file: FW_EA2700_1.0.14.129982.SSA
started a ping 192.168.1.1 -t
plugged router ( while talking to it nicely in case it helped..)
started the upgrade process as soon as pings with TTL=100 started showing up.
Once the flash process finished the router rebooted
ping replies with TTL=100 for about 30 secs.
ping go dead.
I wait 15 minutes, nothing happens.
I unplug and replug the router.
pings replies with TTL=100 for about 30 secs.
pings go dead.
wait 15 mins just in case.
nothing...
unplug router.
I try everything from stratch, this time with FW_EA2700_1.1.40.162751_prod.SSA.
After flash finishes, router reboots..
**** The following lines repeat over 4 times.
pings replies with TTL=100 for about 30 secs
Router reboots again...
pings replies with TTL=100 for about 30 secs
****
router reboots.
pings replies with TTL=100 for about 30 secs
pings go dead.
I wait 15 mins just in case.
unplug router, wait 5 seconds replug router.
ping replies TTL=100 for about 30 secs
ping goes dead.
unplug router
I'm guessing its useless to use the HTML flash from _Robb_ since there are no replies with TTL=64?
Peacock thread states that EA routers should not be 30/30/30 hard reset yet it is mentioned
many times on this thread that ppl had to perform this step. --- confused.
Hi guys, I just wanted to see if anyone knew when an installation guide would be available. Most of the verbiage in this thread goes over my head, but I saw the wiki guides, and they seemed manageable.
I thought I had done my homework when buying this router, trying to find if it supported a feature I now know is called QoS, and while I thought the default software kind of does, it's not as deep as I would like. So I found dd-wrt, and it sounds great, but most of the discussion so far has been way out of my scope of understanding about computers.
I'm not asking for hand holding, just a more concise guide.

I bought one like this, actually 2. They work fine. It ships from Hong Kong so it takes about a month to get to North America. I had one burn out on me, so I was glad I bought a double pack.
Please note that CFE commands are using standard tftp protocol (without the added password). So Tftp.exe should not work.
Have you try by yourself to load the binary from the server ?
Code:
user $ tftp
tftp> connect 192.168.1.100
tftp> get FW_EA2700_1.0.14.129982.SSA
Received 13057672 bytes in 0.4 seconds
tftp> quit
I have tested command with Tftp.exe (now i know this don't work), but I also have tested the alternative TFTP server (don't know if I set anything wrong or program is a crap but its have never worked properly).
Don't update to version (26XXX) this not work with router, maybe softbrick it.
Read the last two pages here on the forum.
You are correct, do not flash that 26x builds until mods, or devs have confirmed working... There was recent changes to svn that fixed this issue, but with the new drivers was soft bricking a lot of devices.
