so im starting to have issues with wired LAN on this router.

just recently (~2 days), i've noticed that my ping in-game in counter-strike has jumped up to 500ms hardwired over LAN connection via cat5e. i'm not downloading any torrents or anything.

the only thing that fixes this is a reboot of the router. its starting to happen roughly every few hours. i am on version 1.1.10.167514 (the most recent linksys FW), and this has never happened in 4 months of owning this router..

i'm not expecting any real help here, i was just wondering if other people are noticing severe latency with a hardwired connection. if it helps, i'm using LAN1 port on router, have a 2tb wd passport in usb3.0 port, and am currently running ubuntu 14.04.2. i cant think of anything else to send as the logs are useless.

thanks in advance, but just figured theres some smart networking folks in here, maybe some of you are seeing similar issues?

You know probably that every time one of the posts here gets recorded, millions of anxious fans get a little notification that a post was received.
"Is this it? Is the Savior Firmware here to save us??"
No.
But I did ping counterstrike.net (-n 1) and got 163ms as a ping. That's west coast.

i've since connected directly thru the modem (motorola sb6141 (white)), and the issue remains. im guessing this is a charter communications issue, most likely one of their nodes. after calling tech support, i was told that they dont deal with "ping things", and that as long as im getting my advertised speed, thats their only obligation to me... they said everything looks fine on their end, they reprovisioned my modem, then told me that "my graphics card might not be fast enough to handle all the internet". it was at that point that i said thank you for the entertainment and hung up on his dumb ass. i'm running a decked-out custom built linux box with all current hardware. these people are fools, and the tech i spoke to said that he was told that from a HIGHER LEVEL. this means that even the "smart" people at charter are indeed idiots.

Run a traceroute from command line, and see if it's the router or something else downstream that's causing the issue.

Also, during a game, do a continuous ping to 192.168.1.1 and look at the results.

i've already confirmed that its charter. i had a spare ubee docsis 2 modem laying around, so for shits and giggles called back charter and had them provision the old modem for a few mins. same issues with the old modem (that previously worked fine too, just slower cuz of 4channels isntead of Cool. ive already ruled the router out by taking it out of the equation completely, hardwired into both routers, and getting similar results. this is absolutely a charter problem, but they wont admit it. their standard operating procedure is to send a tech out first, (which i will end up paying for), and then afterwards they can move forward with a solution. i hate charter and their deceptive ways, 10 bucks says they try to coerce me into upping my plan (aint gonna happen).

speedtest.net confirms advertised speeds up/down, and reports ping to be 24ms (horseshit), but the ping is unbearable. connecting to modem's config page shows nothing wrong (dB-wise and/or power-wise) i checked other peoples working configs online with this specific router. i cant play cs, i cant watch yt, or porn Sad

I already uploaded the updated build an hour ago for the ones that are testing.

I've flashed the new test firmware now. Looking good, only been up for a short time, though, due to rebooting to work on getting IPv6 going again. Had to change the last byte of the router's MAC address to get IPv6 going, but at least that worked.

I got to love Comcast, they really make me work for their crap service.

May I ask the people who are currently using Kong's build for this if the wrt1900ac is Version 1 or version 2? With the hope that Kong will someday release this to public, I was thinking about getting one of these but want to be sure which version to get. Will it work on any version or only one. Thanks for the info.

The firmware currently being tested is for v1. If you buy 2 v2's, though, and give Kong one, he might include v2. He didn't seem to think that it was much more work to add v2, but he doesn't have one yet (at last report *smile*).

You might read a little before asking this question *smile*. The answer up to this point has been that Kong doesn't want to generally release his firmware until he's happy with it. Last I heard, he wasn't ready to generally release it yet.

The specific quote from Kong was:

Quote:
I will publish it when I think it meets my quality standards and because I work in an industry that has the highest software quality standards I don't throw out unfinished crap like others.
