Nice pigtails, very clean. Looks good. These internal antennas do have range issues. I have fairly low signals about 10m away through a wall/floor.

I did some more testing over the weekend. I left it on LAN acting as an AP (no internet/routing) and the bug doesn't occur.

I did a factory reset and used a miniumin of settings (NTP Time Zone US/Pacific, Server IP/Name3.us.pool.ntp.org, DNSMasq Options bogus-nxdomain=92.242.140.1, turned wireless off). Used as main internet router and the bug still occurs. I rebooted, check dd-wrt settings, use internet for ~3hours+ (maybe 4GB of downloads/watching streams), check dd-wrt settings with a different computer, and the bug occurs. So I'm guessing it has something do to with ttraff or routing.

I tried restarting the httpd service, but it didn't help. I don't know which service the web GUI authentication/settings relies on.

I will try an "erase nvram" next weekend, reconfig, and report back.

In you mean time, if you can, please test it as a internet WAN-LAN router and run some traffic through it, 3 hours/4GB. I will try to set up some computers for local WAN-LAN testing.

For the last 2 days I set it up as main ap with DHCP wan connection, everything is smooth, ttraff works and no issue with the webif, wan traffic shows around 15GB.

Hi guys, thanks for all the custom roms. I'm new to dd-wrt, and just messing around. I mostly wanted the bandwidth logs Very Happy, and it's working great. I also playing around with all the WIFI power, and see if I can get greater Omni-direction range. I bought these antennas
http://www.amazon.ca/Super-Power-Supply%C2%AE-WN2500RP-WNDR3300/dp/B00DMHSODS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1437792041&sr=8-1&keywords=belkin+n600+antenna+kit

But they fail to improve over the stock internal antennas. Originally I bought them for Belkin N600, it didn't improve for it either. So I'm just wondering what kind of external antenna you use and what transmit power you have it set to.

Thanks

I used two antennae from a broken EX6200. If your antennae don't give you an improvement, then they are either fakes, or you did not possition them correctly, the longer the omni the smaller the angle where they offer the best signal.

9dBi is definitely bullshit, not even if used with 5Ghz.

To get the best signal you normally align the antenna parallel to the client. If the tip of the antenna points to the client, then you get the worst signal:-)

I did some more testing on it. Did a reflash with the .chk and .bin. Did a "erase nvram" after reflashing and rebooted.

I did an idle test. Just let it sit there on the network, no traffic, and it was fine after 9 hours.

Next I did a LAN(WAN port)-LAN subnet routing test.

subnet 192.168.1.x <-> 192.168.0.x

The following config was changed from default:

WAN static IP (192.168.0.240)
Router LAN IP 192.168.1.1 (default)
disable LAN DHCP
disable Wireless
set the LAN computer IP in the DMZ
disable NTP
manually set time in shell with "date -s"

Generated traffic by playing back some videos using Windows Filesharing between two computers one on LAN and one on the WAN port.

After about 3 hours same bug happened. About 2700:54 MB of traffic recorded before ttraff stopped running. The webif seems to have slow response, in the bugged state, and then connection reset/unresponsive after the authentication prompt. Bug might occur if I enter authentication prompt user/password wrong a few times.

It could possibly be something wrong with the hardware. I did open it up, but didn't see any bulging capacitors.

At this point, I think I'm going to give up for now and see if anyone else reports this issue. Thanks for looking in to it Kong.

Did a second run of same testing with syslog enable+firewall log. erase nvram, reboot, web config settings, reboot.

Testing started around 13:26 UTC. Logged in to manually set the time. LAN(WAN port)-LAN routing.

ttraff stops running around ~16:50 UTC. Shows 2700MB of incoming traffic before stopping. Unfortunately, syslog doesn't show ttraff stopping.

syslog attached.

Don't stay on the Bandwidth Monitoring page of the DD-WRT WebGUI for too long. I observe the same thing (ttraff errors) on WNDR3800 (Atheros) if I leave the Bandwidth page open in Firefox for too long, while doing some heavier traffic.
Here's the somewhat related ticket: http://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/4103

I haven't found the exact cause for this unstable ttraff behavior, but as long as I don't stay on the Bandwidth page, I see no such issues.

Did someone manage to add 3G/4G USB modem as WAN connexion?

I've got only two 3G modem working whereas I've got more on WNR2200.

Do I have to add more drivers (or something else)?

I've got many Huawei modem, most of them are listed as working in the wiki.

Couple of questions (new to this forum):
  • What DD-WRT image is known to work on it?
  • I want to use it for a wireless bridge. In other words I want it to connect wirelessly to my existing (Linksys) main router and I want to plug wired devices into the wired gigabit ports on it. Can I expect this to work if I install DD-WRT on it (ie: have you done it yourself or are you sure it will work)?

Thanks in advance !

Kong,

Congrats on finally bagging a WNR3500Lv2 and creating a port so quickly! I found one issue and have a request for your next build.

Issue: In the Remote Access area under Administration...Management tab, I am unable to select SSH Management, so presently only insecure Telnet is possible (for non-GUI management).

Request: Since you now have plenty of ROM space to spare, would it be possible to integrate a more complete implementation of Samba in future builds?
For example, include SWAT, testparm, and build smbd and nmbd so that they respond to command options like -V?

I ask because right now, I am having a very hard time debugging a WINS configuration using build 22000:23909M (from 6/7/14) in a WNR3500L, and I have found that many debugging features are unavailable. However, now that a port to the WNR3500Lv2 is available, that would be a better target for my further efforts.

Finally, a question: Will this current build support OTRW2? That might be one way for me to get the Samba support I seek, but I'd like to know that it's supported before I try.

<Kong>,

Please disregard my "Issue" in the post above. I forgot about enabling SSHd in Services..Services ... once enabled, SSH sessions via PuTTY work just fine. It has been some time since I configured one of these beasts from scratch.

I'm not a complete noob -- I have been messing with dd-wrt on WNR3500L routers since Eko's 15508M build, and with WRT54 routers. Unfortunately, I just made myself look like a noob.

However, the WINS issues have not gone away, so I hope you can give some consideration to increasing the level of Samba function in subsequent builds.

BTW, just for the record, the build I'm using is 27520M (dated 7/17/15).

One more question:
Are the instructions on this page still the ones to follow for this unit? I'm unclear on the need for the 30-30-30 reset before and AFTER the upgrade. Does this mean that by installing this DD-WRT image, I lose the original factory backup Netgear image that came with the unit?

Thanks again,
Patrick

Yes of course. You loose all your configuration. Not sure if backup config file and restoring after an upgrade of version works with DD-WRT.

Hello,

Did someone have succefully configure a double ssid, on the kong's firmware for the WNR3500Lv2 ?

I have try but I failed:

There is my nvram entry for activate the double ssid broadcast :

Code:
nvram set wl0.1_wmf_bss_enable=0
nvram set wl0.1_crypto=aes
nvram set wl0_vifs=wl0.1
nvram set wl0.1_ipaddr=0.0.0.0
nvram set wl0.1_dns_ipaddr=0.0.0.0
nvram set wl0_tpc_db=off
nvram set wl0.1_auth_mode=none
nvram set wl0.1_akm=psk2
nvram set wl0.1_ifname=wl0.1
nvram set wl0X1_security_mode=psk2
nvram set wl0_authmode=open
nvram set wl0.1_multicast=0
nvram set wl0.1_mode=ap
nvram set wl0.1_ap_isolate=0
nvram set wl0.1_radius_ipaddr=0.0.0.0
nvram set wl0.1_ssid=$(nvram get iPad_ssid)
nvram set wl0_wchannel=0
nvram set wl0.1_authmode=open
nvram set wl0.1_bss_maxassoc=128
nvram set wl0.1_bridged=0
nvram set wl0.1_isolation=0
nvram set wl0.1_closed=1
nvram set wl0.1_netmask=0.0.0.0
nvram set wl0.1_gtk_rekey=3600
nvram set wl0.1_nat=1
nvram set wl0.1_wpa_psk=$(nvram get iPad_wpa_key)
nvram set wl0.1_wme=on
nvram set wl0.1_dns_redirect=0
nvram set wl0.1_wep=disabled
nvram set wl0_auth_mode=none

Then I add the wl0.1 in a bridge (br1) and finally I launch dnsmasq has a DHCP server :

Code:
/usr/sbin/dnsmasq --interface=br1 --dhcp-authoritative --dhcp-range=br1,172.16.1.10,172.16.1.60,255.255.255.0,24h --server=/#/8.8.8.8

But when I try to connect to my second ssid, I have no result.

If someone has an idea why my second ssid doesn't work, it would be really appreciate.

Best regards.
