i guess i give 02-11-2013-r20675-dd-wrt.v24_mega_wrt610n
a try and disable all services i dont need, how about wlan performance ? my 54gl 1.1 has big antennas external, i have seen the wrt610n has only internals... good enough?
I getting my used wrt610n v1 next week and want to use it as bridge. I am not sure which version to use , just that i have to flash it with 610n because of the header from stock firmware.
Now i found your post, so what i know is that the "dd-wrt.v24-18946_big-wrt610n" with the k24 kernel is the right choice to get from stock to dd wrt.
but then i have read most recomment the k24 firmware, should be more stable and i found the 02-11-2013-r20675-dd-wrt.v24_mega_wrt610n
I can't promise you which one is best for a bridge, but here's what I used:
Received a PM from `coast`, but I wanted to reply in the topic rather than to a PM (I'm not a huge fan of requesting help via PM).

Hi,
I read you post regarding your WRT 610n (http://83.141.4.210/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=159185&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30&sid=c151600e29f32c8bc33367bdd6515585)
Im currently using the same router with dd-wrt.v24_mega_wrt610n.bin build. I didnt upgrade to the next firmware you mentioned as im a novice and the initial firmware worked fine... until
I connect a access point in another room of the house and for some reason it doesnt always work.
speedtest.net is fine, downloads are fine however when i open some webpages that have previously been opened, I either come up with below error or the page doesnt load correctly (HTML txt only)
Error:

This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.
I also notice slowish pings:

Im curious if the upgrade you suggested will fix this?
Unfortunately, I can't speak for the older firmware. My only suggestion would be to try it.
For the record, I'm of the opinion that PMs don't contribute to the public pool of knowledge and should be avoided whenever possible. Just my 2c. _________________ WHR-G300N/dd-wrt V24-preSP2 (retired)

It appears to have worked, however I can't see "chillispot".. any ideas why?
I had originally installed "dd-wrt" and I noted it had a few hotspot options, but since upgrading to "mega" it just has wifidog..
I'm using DD-WRT v24-sp2 (12/24/10) mega - build 15962 on my WRT610Nv1 router but it keeps giving me intermittent wireless connections. I am sure of this because I don't have any problems with the wired LAN part of my network. I use the WRT610Nv1 only as a wireless access point. I'm not sure if it's the power supply that's causing these issues but I want to rule out the dd-wrt build version first. What is the most recommended build for this router?

Are you sure the WRT610N isn't really rebooting "randomly". I remember working with the Eko on this one and if you used both radios, it would randomly reboot. At the time, we "solved" the problem by disabled wireless interference mode (check the wiki for this device - it's in there).
Although newer versions may have fixed this issue completely (without changing the wireless interference mode).
I'm just curious if your device is actually rebooting instead of just losing the wireless connections though.
EDIT: By the way, I'm currently running 18946 on my 610Nv1 and it's stable, but I'm not using both radios anymore - just the 5Ghz radio.
Here is the exact version I'm using now:

Yes, I'm pretty much sure that it isn't rebooting randomly. I know about that old issue and I believe it has been fixed with 15962.
The problem is that the packets are dropped randomly but the router stays up all the time.
I tried replacing the power supply with a brand new 12V 5.0A (it uses 12V 1.5A) from another device but the problem became worse.

Not sure if it's "widely" known to be stable or not...
Are you by chance increasing the TX power on the radios? Any chance it's overheating? _________________ 1 x Linksys WRT160n v3

Ah ok.
The Tx power of both radios is set to 40mW, that shouldn't be a problem, right?
When I touch the router it is quite hot but not sure if it's considered overheating. Why would it overheat if the Tx powers are just 40mW?
40mw should be fine. I was just making sure it wasn't set to 200 or something... I would try using the build I'm running and see what you get - at the very least, it's a few years newer!
Let me know if you need a link to it. _________________ 1 x Linksys WRT160n v3

Alright, will give that a shot
Yes please, a link would be appreciated. I'm assuming the trailed build is what's needed in upgrading here.
Please let us know if it helps resolve your issue or not.
