I suggest you use this build and stick to it, unless you need the functions provided by nv32k Kong builds (available at http://desipro.de/ddwrt/K26/r20805/ ).

Stay away from kernel 2.6 builds higher than 21000.

Why are higher-than-21000 K26 kernel builds from Kong bad?

They are not "bad", but support for the processor of your router has been dropped, therefore they will brick your router.

Ok, but generally are Kong builds better than Brainslayer's?

Now, Kong builds are tweaked for fast internet and more thoroughly tested. They also include software which BS builds did not include. The recommended build for your router is still 14929 with kernel 2.4, but if you want to try Kong builds (below 21000) you are free to do it.

A kernel 2.4 build will brick a WRT610N V2.

There are two versions of WRT610N: V1 and V2. V1 works with both K2.4 and K2.6 builds, while V2 works with K2.6 builds only.

Ah, yes. I have a v1 as one of my routers although my main router now is an ASUS RT-AC66U flashed with a Kong K3 Kong build as well. For the WRT610N v1, is the K2.6 better than K2.4 in terms of performance?

K2.4 builds are reported to be more stable, but in the end it is a matter of choice which build to use.

But what is the main advantage of the K2.6 over the K2.4?

What about 18946M NEWD-2 K2.6 Eko build? Users are pretty satisfied with it (page two in this thread) .

Which build should I choose if I decide to use kong 20805? http://desipro.de/ddwrt/K26/r20805/usb-ftp-samba3-dlna-nv32k-broadcom.bin ?

And one more question: I have D-LINK DIR-655 and Linksys Wrt610n v1. Both are wireless n. Whichone to use?

Per http://desipro.de/ddwrt/K26/ReadMe,
Builds based on r20780 or newer, Linksys WRT 610 V1 not supported anymore
Can we flash "http://desipro.de/ddwrt/K26/r20805/" version FW to WRT610N V1?

Oops, my bad. Safest way is to go with the readme. Somewhere between 20500 and 21000 support for the processor of WRT610N V1 was dropped, and I don't know precisely where.

You cant. I cant anyways on my 610n v1. It only has 10 megs of flash and the kingkong builds are over 10. The ones that he has listed that are smaller DLNA VPN etc versions that are 7 megs softbrick my router too. I am still looking for an optimal build for thie model. Have tested a few. Latest SVN some of the newer pre 21000 brainslayer builds and they all have some sort of instability for me.

I am using Kong's 20805 (usb-ftp-samba3-vpn-nv32k-broadcom.bin) on my 610Nv1.
So far the best build for my unit, even though wireless is slower then with stock firmware.On the other hand stock firmware doesn't work at all with my ISP's multicast IPTV.

Some nvram vars:
boardrev=0x10
wl0_corerev=16
pmon_ver=CFE 4.175.64.16

Some info from dmesg:
CPU revision is: 0002901a
CPU: BCM4785 rev 2 at 330 MHz

CPU overclocked to 330MHz by setting clkfreq to 330,132,33
