Anyone know how to configure the wireless advanced way to get a better reach.
I'm using the latest beta version 5.19.16 LEDs are in trouble, the LED of the wds is always on and the 5GHz wifi is turned off , and so it is even or bug?

Hi,
I just tried to upgrade my router from OpenWRT (12.09, r36088) to DDWRT. Following your guide in the wiki
I used the `factory-to-ddwrt` image provided in the section "How to Flash" and flashed it on the device.

After doing the 30/30/30 reset dance, and also during the first boot up, it just keeps on rebooting.

Tried to reset it a couple of times, even tried to do the flash via the TFTP recovery, which I cannot get up and running.

Any ideas how to recover?

Thanks!

I've connected to the serial console and its kernel panicking when it tries to mount the root fs.
Will try to reflash via TFTP.

I just bought a TP Link TL-WDR4300 router with the intention of using it as a wireless repeater

I have been following the standard install instructions.

30 30 30 reset
Then into the router, to the "Upgrade the firmware," and then select the "factory-to ddwrt.bin"

The router then rejects the update, saying that the firmware is incorrect.

"error 18005"

Came across this - which claims they are now locking down all their routers.

Anybody hear about this? Any workaround?

It seems that this router is giving people lots of trouble (although that is usually the impression one gets when reading a support forum).

Should I return it and save myself the trouble?

Any replies greatly appreciated

Ben

Anyone knows a build that supports swap?
I'm using 26622 and it seems that swap is not supported on it.

@tatsuya46
Is the firmware in your signature the most recent one that works correctly?

I just flashed the DD-WRT in my new 4300... I bought it used... Is it normal the 5GHz signal is sooooooo weak? The router is in my office and a room next to it, in the living room, I cannot connect using 5GHz (NO SIGNAL BARS).

I read here that it is needed to configure the channel and the frequency... Is it possible that these two configuration are the root cause of my problem?

I read in internet also, that this router has a weak 5GHz signal...

Regards!

Just updated to the latest (beta) firmware r31791 (no factory reset).

*** EDIT: did a factory reset and configured everything from scratch.

Observations:

2.4 GHz - OK (the led even works)
5 GHz - OK (after factory reset) - led still dark

How's she running? What issues did you have with other builds?

Today I've installed r31791 as well on my TL-WDR4300 v1.3. No reset. Previous version was 26622. So far OK.

OK..

I got r31791 std installed.

One problem I'm having that I don't recall in prior builds is wireless connectivity issues with my Samsung tablets, and at least one laptop.

I've been using the same SSID (and same wpa2 PSK) for both my 2.4ghz and 5ghz radios.

The tablets work OK for what seems like a random amount of time (usually less than 1 hour) then report authentication errors and wont connect to the wireless network. You can "forget" the network and try to reconnect and it just wont work.. reporting authentication issues.

I setup a virtual AP on the 2.4ghz radio and connected the tablets to that, and that connections seems to be stable.

Any thoughts?

I also used to set the 2.4GHz and 5GHz to the same name, but it didn't work. I think maybe devices are confused what to connect to.
I simply added '5GHz' to my SSID and left my 2.4GHz SSID as was and things worked again.

I went back to stock a couple months ago and felt a huge difference in performance, so I reflashed dd-wrt. I am using 25697 now because it is the last one I found 5GHz is working fine (this version was suggested by another user in this group). I re-re-flashed yesterday and tested with several torrent files and is working great.

Also, the last build was restricting 5GHz to 300M, and this router, in theory, is able to reach 450M. As I said, 25697 works fine, even though is an older build.

Hi is there a newer firmware than 25697 Dec 22,2014 that does not have 5g wifi bandwidth and LED issues ?
