I went back to stock a couple months ago and felt a huge difference in performance, so I reflashed dd-wrt. I am using 25697 now because it is the last one I found 5GHz is working fine (this version was suggested by another user in this group). I re-re-flashed yesterday and tested with several torrent files and is working great.
Also, the last build was restricting 5GHz to 300M, and this router, in theory, is able to reach 450M. As I said, 25697 works fine, even though is an older build.
Hi is there a newer firmware than 25697 Dec 22,2014 that does not have 5g wifi bandwidth and LED issues ?
I'd like to know the same. I'm on v24-sp2 (12/22/14) std (SVN revision 25697).
When I visit the router database on the front-page it says the latest version is v24 PreSP2 [Beta] Build 21061, from 2017-09-07. Even though the date is more recent this looks like an older version.
Also with the current WPA2 vulnerability I was hoping for a way to patch my router.

Just upgraded the router to r33492.
So far everything is ok, however, the BGP web-configuration is messed-up. On the older versions I was able to set my IP, AS, neighbor, etc but on newer versions the configuration is just an empty text field.
@Rourke
1.
Why didn't you upgrade to 33525? That one supposedly patches the Krack vulnerability.
2.
Did you manage to debrick your router?
1. I thought 31277 was working well for lordlucas I might go for that one. 33525 came out just a bit later after this.
2. Not yet. I tried the pinging method (number 6), but it restarts so fast I can't even get a response. I'm afraid it's permanently bricked. I'll give it another try soon though. Any tips are welcome.
I have WDR4300 and I am on SVN 25697 dated Dec 22,2014.
I am looking for best/stable build to upgrade to with patches for latest vulnerabilities.
@Rourke and others - when you say resetting before upgrade - do we have to switch to stock firmware and then upgrade or hard reset on the back of router ?
Thanks for you help - Don't want to brick my router so want to be cautious before upgrading.

Reset by going to the Admin then factory defaults page and enable, then click apply. Wait for the router to reboot, then log back in at 192.168.1.1. It should ask you to create a username and password.
Then upgrade to a build after 33525. See my signature. I have a WDR3600v1 which is very similar to the WDR4300v1. I am currently running 33607 on all of my Atheros routers.

I meant a 30/30/30 reset, but I think what ian says is good too.
@ian5142
After resetting to factory defaults and upgrading to a new version, can we then restore a backup? Would that bring back most of the settings, or would that be a disaster?
I ask this, because I find it very daunting to redo all the scripts and settings and passwords and port forwards and such.

Go definitely on version 33607 it is very stable, fast, has krack fix and is designed for low ram routers so zou have more power on other function. For example for me VPN speed goes from 8 mbps up to 15 mbps.
But remember in all new versions for TL-WDR4300 not works 5GHZ led indicator and also if you will save iptables/firewall setup in fireval script(rc_firewall=) then after reboot wan port goes down so if you want save firewall config save it in startup config.
I'm running 34080 on mine. It seems to be working fine. I only use it as a LAN switch, though. the 2.4GHz radio never did work correctly on mine. The 5GHz radio is fine. _________________ TP-Link TL-WDR4300 v1 (NAS) - r54682
