No I don't think it makes sense, it looks to be about 1KB or less of script text. Most other users have used between 30-35KB of nvram, you ought to be somewhere on the high side of that range but not as high as 44-48KB.

Can you please take a backup of your cfe, I want to compare with the one I have. It has happened before that cfe bugs has been corrected but the programmer fixing the bug forgetting to bump the version number.

http://192.168.1.1/backup/cfe.bin

zip or rar it and attach the archive in a pm to me.

Hi LOM,

Done, you should have the file in to your PM-box.

Many thanks and I hope this helps.

Best regards.

That was unfortunately a dead end, your cfe is identical to the one I already had.
I guess you will eventually also lose nvram settings. Crying or Very sad

Hi LOM,

Thanks for your time to investigate this matter.

I can confirm that still working and today I did a remote-reboot from my dad's home connected to OpenVPN and it was working after that.

I will keep you posted if something weird happens.

Best regards.

Hi,

I have a EA6900 French version since 1 month now, and tried to upgrade to DD-WRT linksys-ea6900-webflash.bin build r23720 through webgui upgrade tool. It don't upgrade, the process is never applied.

I have factory reset and tried to upgrade to DD-WRT from 1.1.42.154855 and 1.1.42.158863 stock firmwares. But it give the same result.

Behavior observed: Upgrade start with progress bar processing, and then after 2~3 minutes, it gives an answer saying that upgrade failed.

Have I missed something ?
or
Is this firmware r23720 can be upgraded with TFTP method on EA6900 ?

I've been trying to do that all morning with no luck.

i've tried using windows & linux (parted magic) with timeouts as my only result.

i was using this tftp program:

http://tftp-server.com/tftp-client.html

same results with older firmware too, not sure why, but it just seems like maybe i can't write to the device. tried a chmod 777 / -R but says it's a readonly filesystem... no real surprise that didn't work i guess

my only real advice to you would be to avoid build 23502... might be able to have success with flashing an older one than that build (12-24-2013 maybe) and then trying the newest one.

Thanks a lot for this suggestion, it worked perfectly with the webgui upgrading tool.

I have 1st upgraded my router with build 23598.
And then I finally upgrade from DD-WRT build 23598 to build 23720.

Thanks again.

I can play with DD-WRT now.

I too was able to get 23720 working. It has been very stable and has been up for three days without a reboot or the 2.4 wireless dropping on my device. These were the issues I had with the earlier versions on my EA6900. Thanks for your hard work! Has anyone tried the version published by Kong? (23770 3-23-14)

I just picked up a an EA6900 off newegg with a free moto surfboard modem -- then I saw all of the negative reviews of the EA6900. I'm hoping the problem is strictly firmware and that using DD-WRT will resolve any issues.

Router comes tomorrow and I plan on loading up 03-13-2014-r23720 found here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2014/03-13-2014-r23720/linksys-ea6900/linksys-ea6900-webflash.bin .

Should I update the firmware to the most current Belkin version first (Ver.1.1.42 (Build 158863) ) or just load up DD-WRT? Does it matter? I've never flashed a router before, but someone else had loaded DD-WRT on my last router and it worked great.

One more thing -- the wiki lists EA6900 hardware revision 1.0. If I receive 1.1, am I still ok to flash?

Hi guys,

There is a new build: ftp://dd-wrt.com/betas/2014/03-29-2014-r23838/linksys-ea6900/linksys-ea6900-webflash.bin

As I don't want to take the risk to flash it and losing my current setup/configuration that it works like a charm: Could someone test it and confirm that it works like the latest one not losing the configuration after a reboot ?

Many thanks and best regards.

Hi guys I've only had the router for a few weeks... and the smart firmware is already driving me crazy... I need more options Smile. Can anyone link me to a stable build (I'm aware this is still a beta) and I assume we just flash it using the manual firmware option within the smart settings ??

Thanks guys Smile

Sorry mate, but I'm always testing new builds with no problem in fact glad to do it, but this time and due some comments from LOM it could be the case that I'm losing my configuration about the problem with NVRAM...

This is the 1st time that I'm asking to someone prior myself to test in to this router, if you check the post always that there is a new build I'm the 1st in test and give the the "review" to the other users on how it works.

Same applicable for AC68U and AC66U and in the past with the E4200.

I'll try whatever the newest beta is as soon as the router is delivered.
