-TX Power tops off at 19dBm.
w/OEM firmware: 27dBm (I think)
w/OpenWrt: 23+
-Otherwise, seems superior stability-wise to OpenWrt at this point. Good job.
-Using as bridged Multi-SSID AP.

TP-Link TL-WR841N v9
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/27/14) std - build 24160

edit:
Upon further observation...
TX Power same across board (ddwrt, openwrt,OEM)
<20dbm, true to hardware specs.

Factory to DD-WRT worked fine (logged into admin interface after the upgrade, set username/password, clicked around to look at a few things, etc.) then did the Webflash on my 841N v9, now all I get is power LED when powered up normally, power & lock LED when I hold the reset button in while powering on. Apparently I f'd up the webflash (there is a distinct possibility that I flashed v8 webflash to this unit rather than v9). Any advice on how I get this unit reset to a point where I can give this another try? Is there a TFTP process I can do for this unit? Thanks!

I did the webflash on a v9 unit that was running a previous build and it worked properly..

No idea about tftp on these devices...

I've reverted (via GUI) from OpenWrt to this stripped Factory firmware:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=29248 [updated link from TendaW311R+, page 7 , same topic]
md5: a8988d8992fb8aadad4f6d74d1deb8d6
TFTP - DEBRICK method using this firmware:
1. Make sure that 192.168.0.86 (tp link's ip in tftp recovery) and 192.168.0.66 are free
2. Set up tftp server on IP 192.168.0.66
3. Download stripped OEM firmware: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=29248 , and place file in the root.
4. If your Router is "N" and not "ND", edit the "D" from file name.
5. Turn on TL-WR841N v9 while holding the reset key and it should pick up and flash itself. ...
Check MD5 before flashing... http://www.winmd5.com/?rid=winmd5 .

Or, follow much more detailed instruction by TendaW311R+ contained within the above download ( http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/download.php?id=29248 )

Many thanks - the stripped firmware went on easily using the tftp method you provided & I now have the unit flashed with the proper webflash (I did confirm that I flashed using a bin from a v8 folder I had on my laptop from previous routers I worked with - pretty dumb mistake) and everything seems to be working nicely. Appreciate the assistance!

Hi!

I've just bought this unit yesterday, and have a little problem with it. FYI as soon as it came out of the box i installed dd-wrt on it. The symptoms are the following: everything works fine, i mean more than fine, its dd-wrt Razz , but wifi gives me a headache. I have an Android phone, and it drops wifi all the time. Then it reconnects immideately. It happens every 15-60 seconds. Ohh and latency is horrible, 1-3 secs!

I set my wifi with WPA2 with AES, 20 Mhz bandwith, mixed.

Has anyone seen this problem?

edit: I tested it with a tp link wifi usb stick and works fine. So it has something to do with my smartphone

I wanted to buy a new cheap router for extended wireless range and I found this one for $20 from amazon. I instantly bought this one and installed DD WRT and set up as a Client Mode router. Works great! But I wanted to set up a Client Bridge (routed) mode with wireless enabled but I kept getting a lot of TX receiving errors and keep getting dropped connects and reconnecting every 1-3 mins. Just wanted to share of my experience to this wonderful router.

hi, sorry for my English but I use google translator. I installed the firmware ddwrt on this router and I noticed that it does not work on 40MHz, I use a lot of streaming video so I need the bandwidth to 300Mbit, how can you do to install the original firmware? thanks

all you had to do is read all this topic before flashing and you had know that
And all you have to do is the same, on this same topic same page, just read MazdagL post and you will see the link to the file you are looking for.
