I see that TRENDnet TEW-812DRU v2 is supported but not V1 .. Could I still flash V1 with the V2 flash for DD-WRT or would I brick this router? anyone tried this on a Version1 router Could you get back to me ASAP

The Trendnet 812 v1.0R refuses to install the image. No messages in the logs, and it comes up with the factory firmware.

I have this router, and work as an embedded software developer. I'd be willing to work on this port if I could get some guidance.

that trendnet TEW-812DRU V1.0R and Buffalo
WZR-D1800H (which is DD-WRT supported) have exactly identical hardware !
I can't wait to try and see if it works if I use it to flash the trendnet, I will test this ASAP and keep you updated!

What do you guys think, would anyone dare and try the same thing ? Flash memory and RAM are also the same, I don't think any harm can be done trying this

There's always risk when you flash your router. It would be really nice to get input from a DD-WRT expert on whether or not it makes sense to try to flash that firmware.

The stock firmware is bad. It doesn't even have DHCPv6 support.

I'm not too impressed with this router's range either. It had good reviews when I bought it. That's the last Trendnet router I'll buy.

i have tried to flash with buffalo firmware mentioned above (both with .trx and .bin files provided) the device keeps coming back with its original firmware.

I tried to cross flash my TEW-812DRUv1 to both the Buffalo firmware and Asus firmware with the BCM4706 chips. I bricked my TEW-812DRUv1. It would not respond to the ping on 192.168.10.1. In the bricked state, wireshark revealed that the router would keep requesting to have 192.168.10.1 and then reboot. The bricked router would not respond to a pinging 192.168.10.1. I also could not TFTP the firmware to 192.168.10.1.

Here is the good news. There is an emergency firmware web server mode that I found. After shorting 2 pins, the router started to respond to pinging 192.168.10.1. I open my web browser to "http://192.168.10.1". I got to see the emergency firmware site. I uploaded the stock firmware. My pinging window was still open. After probably about 3 minutes, the router started to respond to pings regularly and behold the stock firmware website was back. I successfully unbricked my TEW-812DRUv1. The unbrick pins are on the backside. There are 2 screws under the rubber feet that have to be removed on one side in order to take the cover off. There are more screws inside plus you have to disconnect the 3 antennas in order to get the board out the This is very dangerous to have exposed live circuits. Be very careful. I attached a photo.
