I'm a first time DD-WRT user so I'm sorry if I don't really know how to test that. Would you give me some pointers?

What VLAN issues? It's a Broadcom and function like any other Broadcom Router.

ASUS AC3200 working fine with Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r28493M std (12/10/15)

I am using it as AP only. I have another router as a router.

AC66U max throughput with DD-WRT using 5GHZ AC was ~270Mbps (2x2)

AC3200 max throughput with DD-WRT using 5GHZ AC is ~370Mbps (2x2)

I used jperf for the above tests.

I have been using it for 1 hour. I will report back in one week with observations.

First impressions:

Firmware r28493M. Country: USA

AP Only - Very stable and extremely fast

Need some work :

Lights for the 2Ghz and 5Ghz do NOT work
Naming convention do not match wireless number
Radio 1 5ghz is eth1 and wl0
Radio 2 2ghz is eth2 and wl1
Radio 3 5ghz is eth3 and wl2

Radio channels will need some tweak to match radio limitations (asus design):

Radio 1 ONLY works in the lower end of the 5ghz band meaning only channels 36-64 by ASUS design. This means Radio 1 should NOT be configured above channel 64.

Radio 3 ONLY works in the upper end of the 5ghz band meaning only channels 149-165 by ASUS design. This means Radio 3 should NOT be configured below channel 149.

The above means that it would be nice not to show the non-working channels.

I cannot flash the original Asus firmware from DD-WRT GUI, in order to restore the original firmware you need the recovery tool from ASUS. If you use the DD-WRT GUI it reverts back to the DD-WRT software.

command line NVRAM erase seems broken.

If some can tell me how to submit the request for a fix I would do it. Also the latest DD-WRT firmware r28598 does NOT work. Router remains rebooting over and over again.

A critical item for my installation:

TX Power is considerable lower than my ASUS AC66U running a Kong version and much much lower than the Factory ASUS firmware and/or Merlin Firmware, at least 6-10db using inSSIDer. I can also experience the difference using smartphones, signal is spotty in certain areas of my home with the AC3200 running the DD-WRT.

What is the command to read the TX Power setting per radion? AC3200 has 3x radios.

How I can set each of the radio to use at least 28-29dbm 600-800mW?

I wished it was that easy. The GUI produces no changes to signal strength. I already tried 1000 and not changes at all.

Any updates on the AC3200. I need to flash DD-WRT on to it. Mr. Green Razz

I just installed DD-WRT on Asus RT-AC3200 previously this day.

Firmware: asus_rt-ac3200-firmware.trx / DD-WRT v3.0-r28211 std (11/16/15)
Kernel: Linux 3.10.93 #4962 SMP Mon Nov 16 08:45:30 CET 2015 armv7l

What's working: All working (so far) Tested normal router functions (wlan, lan, wan, dhcp etc) plus OpenVPN-client, USB-disk, JFFS and custom firewall rules.
Errors: Nothing that I have noticed so far.

Method?

Fresh install from ASUS RT-AC3200 Firmware version 3.0.0.4.378.9313. First a 30/30/30 -> Power cycle -> Restore mode -> Flashed using Asus Firmware Restoration -> Reboot -> 30/30/30 -> Power cycle -> Reboot.

Anyone have problems with the physical ports? I'm running DD-WRT v3.0-r28397 std (12/01/15) on my RT-AC3200 and I've found that the WAN port and the 1st LAN (1) ports aren't usable. I had to remap one of the remaining LAN ports (2-4) to be the WAN port in the vlans configuration in order to get it all working. I didn't check with the stock firmware before flashing but I'm betting on an issue with the DD-WRT build.

Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r28647 std (01/02/16)

Moved to Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r28647 std (01/02/16)

Better power/signal strength
Radio LED work now

Some problems:
Max Associated Clients always goes back to 32. I set it to 128 save and/or applied and reverts to 32. This only happens with the 5Ghz radios (eth1/wl0 and eth3/wl2)

WEB GUI ---> Setup-->VLAN
Link status What does the color mean?
WAN interface configured disabled and color is RED
LAN PORT 1 connected at 1Gbps and color is RED
LAN PORT 2 color is yellow but device connected is off. What does yellow mean?
LAN PORT 3 connected at 1Gbps and color is RED
LAN PORT 4 nothing connected and color is GREEN

My confusion is Disabled is RED but 1 GBPS is also RED?

Everything else works GREAT!!!
Throughput of 350Mbps 2x2 on the 5Ghz band. Still the channels need to be locked to limit radio 1 to lower band and radio 2 to the upper band.

I believe the colors (should) mean:

RED: No connection
YELLOW: 10/100Mbit connection
GREEN: 1000Mbit connection

I switched to this build since my post above but I can't seem to use the WAN or LAN PORT 1. Are these working for you other than the incorrect colors? Sounds like you aren't using the WAN port, but maybe try to plug in just LAN PORT 1 (no other ports connected) and see if it works for you?

That's the first time that I head that a port should light up if not connected, maybe this is new on the asus, but I have never seen any unit that turns on lights for ports if nothing is connected.

The max associated clients is a driver maximum I don't think oem firmware allows to to set it above 32.
