You should update the routers OEM FW to v1.08 then try again. Use this process to update OEM FW: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0

Try following this to load WRT:

I have a brand new D-Link DIR-880L A1, stock firmware 0.01sh and so far I cannot manage to upgrade to factory-to-ddwrt.bin.

I have tried with Chrome, FF and IE; I have tried r26587, r27096, r34311 and r34411, everytime, the AP replies that "Firmware Upgrade failed!"

Of course I use LAN to do the upgrade.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance,

I upgraded from v3.0-r29396 std (04/04/16) to r34311 today without any issue. I upgraded via ethernet and I did not retain settings. I was able to set up security, access restrictions and QOS without any issues.

    1. Reset to factory settings
    2. I downgraded to DIR-880L_A1_FW107WWb08.bin from 1.08WW using default D-link default firmware tool
    3. I did not do a Downgrade from D-Link v1.20x FW as shown
    4. Uploaded factory-to-ddwrt.bin using default D-link default firmware tool
    5. Set new password upon boot via new DD-WRT page 192.168.1.1
    6. Uploaded ddwrt-webflash-dir868-880-r34311b-patched.bin as found here and chose to reset to default
    7. All works great! Thanks!!!!

You should go back to the official builds released by the DD-WRT devs. They have fixed the bricking issues for the DIR-880 and DIR868. Fixed since 34311 release.

Hi Folks - sorry to come up with a question at the first post. But i have a strange problem with my 880L

I flashed the "factory-to-ddwrt.bin" over the factory resetted OEM Firmware. Now I am on:
Code:
Router Model: Dlink-DIR880L
Firmware Version DD-WRT v3.0-r34777 mini (01/31/18)
Kernel VersionLinux 4.4.114-rc1 #2558 SMP Wed Jan 31 09:30:43 CET 2018 armv7l

So far everything is working fine but I have problems with wifi:
1. 5ghz wifi is simply not working - no client can see the network - but it is shown as active.
2. I cannot setup a virtual wifi (guest network) - I tried the DHCPD method and the DNsmasq method - none of them is working. The 2,4ghz Network shows up but no IP is given...

Should I flash the dir880-webflash.bin? or go back to a older version?

I have the 880L Version A1

Thanks in advance!

After you flash the factory to dd-wrt bin file you have to flash the full web flash file, you will notice it is significantly larger.

After the full web flash, I always telnet into the router and do an “erase nvram” to factory reset it. Supposedly the factory reset via the Web UI doesn’t always do a great job.

Great thanks - I already thought something like this.
I ll try later. So flash the webflash and then factory reset.
Can I restore my config file afterwards? Dont want to Setup the Port forwarding again... Smile
Or better to Setup everything by hand again?

Is the WiFi LED light also fixed in the official build?

Hi,

Wondering if somebody can help me out here. I have DIR 880L & I have installed ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/08-16-2016-r30432/dlink-dir880l/ (form the bottom of pg17. I setup Nord VPN (followed the tutorial) but it will not work. Am I using a good firmware or can somebody recommend a better one which might help & direct me to the download please.

Also, when I search my router on the database it says it is available, I click it and the 2 files just send me to an error page and nothing downloads

Thank you

Running Kong’s test build on my 880L in the link below, works well.

I just got an 880-L. Set it up but the QOS engine is lacking to say the least. When I open the router settings page it says "HW:A2 FW:1.08WW".

I'm running Plex Media Server and SABnzbd on the same machine. Sometimes if it starts to download a new file the video I'm watching stutters and I have to throttle SAB manually. Will dd-wrt allow me to throttle SAB automatically on this router?

If it will, I've read the past few pages of this thread but everyone talks about A1 - are there any dd-wrt versions confirmed to work on A2? There's a post mentioning the brick risk was fixed after 34311 so should I just choose the latest beta from here?

Then, in a nutshell, just 30/30/30, flash factory to ddwrt, wait until the lights all come on, 30/30/30, flash full bin, wait until the lights all come on, 30/30/30 again and presto?
