No I never did look up how to flash via serial; I'm just using it as a access point with stock firmware.

Now that the E6350 appears to be supported, has anyone been able to flash their routers with this?

I tried through the WebGui but it says the image is too big.

Have you tried to first flash to an older Linksys firmware and then flash DD-WRT from there ?
I see EA6350 is supported since 28139, have you tried to flash 28139 ?

Edit: Also please see your messages (upper right corner of dd-wrt page) I've sent you a PM.

I have not tried to flash the stock EA6350 to an older Linksys firmware. I didn't know that was possible.

The issue I'm running into is that the 28139 EA6350 build is over 25mbs in size and Linksys throws an error that the image file is too big.

The router also doesn't respond to TFTP requests from my Win8 PC.

Can you link a firmware that I can try and flash to then go to DD-WRT? I understand with this model performing the 30-30-30 reset is not advisable.

Just need a little guidance and I should be good. I am also thinking of posting the how to for this model after I get it running.

Thank you again for your time.

For EA6350 v1 the only available stock firmware from Linksys is Ver. 1.0.4 (Build 164719) http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=148481
Which version is now on your router ?

Note: this file is still available at http://cache-www.belkin.com/support/dl/FW_EA6350-1.0.4.164719_prod.img

Note: previous version is still available at https://downloads.linksys.com/downloads/firmware/1224701320845/FW_EA6350_1.0.3.160602_prod.img

I would recommend to update to 1.0.4 from the link above, but it might still not allow DD-WRT to be flashed. And then you can't go back to 1.0.3...
I don't know how to fix this, but I've read that EA6400 had the same issues.... let me check.

Thanks KrypteX.

I will standby on my current version in case I can't go back.

I was reading somewhere that the TFTP flash portion on these routers is right when it boots up, but it has to be timed perfectly and I have not had any luck with this.

Any ideas about flashing to a micro (or other version of DD-WRT) that fits the size requirements then flashing to the current build?

Thanks!

I just took the plunge and updated to the 1.04 firmware, then tried to flash DDWRT again. No joy.

I will be trying TFTP next to see if I can get it to respond.

Dang...

Keep us updated on what you find. I heard trying the TFTP flash from a Win XP/Linux/OSX machine has a better chance of working.

I only have windows 10 here with me. I could try a VM though.

I don't have any kind of serial cable to perform this. That's what I got from reading that post.

Is there another compatible DD-WRT build that I could flash to?

you can try to flash numint's crippled and smaller build for the ea6300/ea6400:
http://d.pr/f/17CIg/5I5UrVmX+

just set a username and password, but dont; save/commit any other settings.
then, flash a newer (ea6350) build, and you should be good to go.
