I also have this router and am quickly tiring of the broadly incapable stock firmware.
What is the process for making this happen myself?

So far I've found this: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=269372

and trying to SSH into it has had mixed results, it accepted the website credentials but "Server refused to allocate pty"

Telnet immediately closes, connecting as raw informs me "SSH-2.0-dropbear_2012.55" which is apparently the SSH daemon in use,
but I don't know what to do beyond that.

PS, TPlink has a 'simulator' on their website, I'm really not sure what it's supposed to do but maybe it's the magical bullswaggle key to escaping this terrible firmware.
One can only hope irrationally http://www.tp-link.com/resources/simulator/C5_v2_simulator/Index.htm

copy from another thread.

In the Archer C5 V2, looking at routers with common features, couldn't I just use this firmware:
DIR-860L
(AC1200) A1 KA2
IR860LA1 Broadcom
BCM47081A0
@800 128 128 Broadcom
BCM4352
& BCM43217 an/ac 2x2:2
b/g/n 2x2:2 1 1 1 4 LAN
1 WAN 12V
2A 1 USB 3.0
Gbit switch dir860l-a1
build 26534
20150324

That router is near similar in chip specs..?
What else is needed to create an archer c5 v2 image ?

Also investing interest in this project. Does anyone have a link to where a donation would best be directed? I would like to see support for this hardware as I've found it to be pretty powerful and affordable, but the stock firmware isn't as robust as dd-wrt.

Hi guys, I was searching for firmware for my Archer C50 (I think it is the same as the C5 v2, correct me if I'm wrong) and ended up here, with people interested in the same thing as me. I am completely new to the forum, and wanted to state that I am willing to help in the development of the firmware with tests on my device Smile .

Hi Guys! Very Happy
I don't really think it will be new to you, but I share what I've just found:
http://static.tp-link.com/resources/gpl/Archer_C5_v2_gpl_code.tar.bz2
A partial source code (mostly the kernel, I guess), but it might be enough to start development for this device, or compile it ourselves, if someone knows how-to do it.
