edit;
9980 has been doing that as long as i can remember.
this other new "Unknown eventid: 36925" crap is new to the new 9980 firmware ..... just put this back as main router and it's spamming me hard ....
'da-dmesg'
Hey guys! Im on the latest kong (DD-WRT v3.0-r33770M kongat (11/15/17)) and just upgraded from 11/2 because I was having intermittent streaming issues with attached usb storage. It also seemed like it was having issues with discovery as it took a while for the NAS to show up.
Anyways, seems like there are some usb mounting issues with the latest fw. Shows that its mounted -
Partition sda2:
/dev/sda2 mounted to /tmp/mnt/sda2
but in NAS tab it does not allow me to select sda2 as a mounting point. I thought maybe I could just choose /mnt and specify sda2 as a subdir (see attached) but its just empty when I browse the directory. Attached picture does not show it (NAS) but when selecting drop down sda2 does not appear only /mnt
Troubleshooting tips would be appreciated.
EDIT - I factory restored and now the mount point shows up in NAS, but when attempting to access the directory I cannot even connect to the router anymore. Network discovery does not even see it, and when I attempt to reach the ip directly via \\ip\ or \\routername\ I get "windows cannot accesss \\ip\"
EDIT 2 -Now after rebooting I have the added benefit of the router once again not seeing and mounting the usb combined with the fact I cannot see my router anymore via SMB.
EDIT 3 - After another reboot, I can now access \\router-ip\ and see the NAS share and access it, though it took about 120 seconds for the USB to connect to the router.
Also, this firmware frequently hard crashes when attempting to reboot the router through dd-wrt http menu. Maybe 1 out of 3 reboot attempts it just gets stuck, LAN shows connected but cannot reach router via http. IP pings but no internet connection. After physically turning it on/off it will reboot fine though.
All in all....very sketchy business. Is it possible its my ORICO enclosure? I use this one -

I have a a Freenas NAS and had no problem with the kong r33770m. But I did have problem with the the USB WD 2tb portable. What works for me was 1. I did not have the Unsupported file system that you have, I used the fat32 or ntfs 2. I created a user profile in the nas screen. 3. your path needed corrections to the sd1,2,3. Others reported that their usb popped up right away. That has never been my case. Never had that problem with my NAS, either unraid or freenas.
r33770m has no errors, and stable on r7500v2. _________________ Netgear R7800(2), R7500v2(2) WDS, Asus RT-AC68R (2)

Thank you for the response. Just to clarify, this is usb storage not a network storage hardware that connects via rj45. Also, the partition is NTFS, and the unsupported filesystem you see is the bootloader. Here is how it currently looks (since its functional now, though any given reboot can change that)....

No misunderstanding here. USB is connected to router usb1. I had the spurious disconnect before but it was my fault for nor configuring the router nas correctly. I only mentioned the NAS server for comparison only.
I have several orico usb cases laying around, don't remember having problems with them. _________________ Netgear R7800(2), R7500v2(2) WDS, Asus RT-AC68R (2)

QCA9980 radio driver for the r7500v2 increases my speed both wifi and wired!!! Pretty sure that MIMO on both devices in WDS did this. I have been running repeater bridge for years with half the speed on the wifi. Best kong release for my r7500v2.

You should be able to run a VPN service on the stock Netgear firmware (Advanced setup tab, advanced setup, vpn service)
But yes, DD-WRT does support VPN
That really only enables VPN and you need to install it on each individual computer.
I am talking about directing your router to tunnel through a VPN and have it cover all devices connected to that router without having to do anything on the specific device.
Stock netgear genie doesn't allow that, but if I am wrong please tell me as I rather not have to learn how to flash dd-wrt on my router
Ah, I see, it looks like the Netgear Genie only has VPN Server -- not a VPN client. In that case you could use a 3rd party firmware like DD-WRT to accomplish what you're looking for.
I do this, for example, on my travel router running OpenWRT firmware -- same principle.
Thanks, I thought this thread was the general 'master' thread (as several have posted updates after testing latest FW), and didn't think to double-check on the individual thread builds. Will bookmark that Atheros section and check there in addition from now on.
