This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build (e.g. 29000_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. Please also do not respond to such questions. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build.

Odd, ddup says I'm using the latest version on my r7000.

Flashed it giving it the address instead of --flash-latest and it worked fine. I've never done one this early, wondering if it didn't like that it was "in the future" with a date of 2/1 when it's 1/31 here.

Looks like this one is using the new kernel point release, 4.4.1 that just came out.

Has anyone seen a change log for this yet? Curious before updating my R8500 (which, by the way, has been WAY more stable on 28815 after doing a reset and only restoring port forwards and dhcp reservations with a modified frater script).

netgear ac1450
ddup --flash-latest worked fine.
I've had problems accessing lighttpd webserver with both 4.4 kernel builds. Both http and https refuse access. All else seems ok for now. I never had any stability issues with 28815.

edit: I managed to get access to the webserver by temporarily enabling wan access and logging in. After I disabled wan access I retained access the server. Not quite sure what is going on. I happened with 3 different browsers so I doubt it was a cache issue.

ddup relies upon Kong updating a list on his end which your local router reaches out to, asking "is there a newer version of firmwar, I am running X."
If Kong doesn't update the list to include the newest firmware then ddup responds to your ddup request with "you have the latest."

Sometimes Kong doesn't get to that step before people run ddup --latest
Nothing is broke or wrong.

anyone tested the new PIE queueing discipline ?

Yes, I find FQ_CODEC still performs better, speed and buffer float wise, for QoS than Cisco's PIE algo.

So far the build is working fine on my R8000. If I see any crashes / restarts that plagued me with the last build, I will report them.

Under processes, I noticed two instances of radvd. I don't recall seeing two in past builds. Is that normal?

Yes, two radvd processes is normal. I'm a little surprised that dd-wrt hasn't switched to dnsmasq for this by now, but until the developers do that, this is normal.

Just upgraded my R8500. Went very smoothly with no reset of settings. But these settings were all brand new with 28815M (and had been up for 3 days straight, no freezes or random reboots).

The only issue I'm seeing thus far is that IPv6 on my Comcast connection doesn't come up right away. I have to go to Wireless > Basic Settings and click Apply. The router goes offline for about 30 seconds and when it comes back, IPv6 (and everything else) functions as expected. If I simply go to the Setup > IPV6 tab and click "Apply" it goes offline for about 2 seconds before it comes back, but IPv6 is not up.

Seems to need something with the more comprehensive reset that happens on the Wireless screen.

One note: I am doing MAC address cloning on my WAN port, so if it's trying to do IPv6 before that MAC address is reprogrammed, that would explain why it doesn't work on initial boot. IPv4 works perfectly fine regardless.

A few weeks ago someone reported the same issue it turned out that he installed some app on his smartphone that constantly tried to access the router.
