Does anyone have their WNDR3700 setup successfully to connect as client bridge (routed) on a 5ghz network? Please let me know what your settings are...
I just got a new wndr3700 v4, properly updated to r29519 dd-wrt and all seems to work fine on 2.4ghz, but the 5ghz cannot seem to find my 5ghz network properly..
On site survey, i will see a bunch of other 5ghz networks at: 216 to 1300 (a/n/ac) under the Rate column, but MY 5ghz network only shows 8(a/n/ac) and while it does say "successfully connected" if I press JOIN, it does not actually connect. The 2.4ghz will connect just fine (but I don't want to because there is ALOT of interference so i want to use the 5ghz)
The 5ghz network is from an Actiontec WEB6000Q, on channel 157, 20mhz channel width. "Mixed" on both this router and WNDR3700. And the Wndr3700 is literally 3 feet away from it (range isn't an issue here), for testing purposes. My LG G3 and G4 smartphone connects to the WEB6000Q just fine with fullspeeds.
Do you have the 2.4 radio off? If so turn it on and set reg domain same as the 5GHz. Mine is set United States -
Save - Appy Settings
Make your Client Bridge (Routed) connection with the 5GHz. If all is good then you can turn the 2.4GHz back off.
That is the only way it works for me.
Wireless survey would never show my network for some reason but it picked up neighbrs 5GHz.
Using NG-Mixed CH 149 HT40 upper
WNDR3700v4 bridged to main router (also wndr3700v4) on the 5GHz .. both running 29519
seems to work fine for me ---- not sure about your main router but it's worth a try, no?
EDIT: In wireless settings you must use 'Default GW Mode' check 'Manual' and type in IP to main gateway -
EDIT: Speedtest to flash-based test on local server only shows 52 mbps best
yes, the 2.4ghz was on and was on US for both. very stumped... the only thing i suspect is that the 5ghz for DD-WRT in general is very sensitive to which 5ghz networks it connects to.
because, based on the 3 other cases i found that is the same issue as this, all of them have this in common:
-connecting to a NON dd-wrt router/main.
EDIT: i've tried the manual gateway set to the main which is 192.168.1.254, but still same issue :/

Yes there are many 5GHz channels that don't work and some that will connect certain devices only at a very low rate.
The 149 or 161 work good foe me. I have a E2500 running shibby tomato that has been client bridged to my main
router for many months on 5GHz... It is wired to a BRDP that has blown-out WiFi.
Those two channels were about all I could use over many dd-wrt updates and still stay connected with the E2500.... a couple
lower channels work ok but not as good.
I guess you have tried with the main router on a wide (HT40) or whatever its equivalent is?
i do notice one odd thing, which may be a sign of a bug in dd-wrt ...?
if i set my main to broadcast A,N only (not AC), the site survey sees the network as A only and doesnt show the N. The rest of the issues remain the same.
Try n only for WNDR3700 as it only supports a/n anyway. Forget the site survey and set up client bridge mode manually to match that of the Actiontec and see if it works.
