Hello. I am re-posting my questions as a separate thread to try to be in compliance with the announcements. I posted these questions in a thread that was some months old. My apologies if that is considered a necro thread. I deleted the potentially offending post.
I decided that having dd-wrt is better than having 5G. So, I spent a good part of a day trying to get the above experimental build to work with my R7500. I read the peacock thread, followed wiki steps, etc. It just didn't want to run after flashing. Tried web install and tftp. Tried installing older OEM builds and upgrading from there.
I've installed dd-wrt before on another router. But, is there a special step for this router/build that I am missing?
Since it appears you are in the market for a high performance router you might want to look at BS's and Kong's pages to see what routers the two have in common.

Yeah. Lesson learned. To be fair, I did research the R7500 for dd-wrt before I bought it. Just not thoroughly enough. I read a few threads with people showing a lot of enthusiasm for it. So, I got the impression that a fully functional build was right around the corner. Then, after I bought it, learned that there are complications with the hardware it uses. Doesn't sound like the v1 version I have will ever have full support in dd-wrt.
Following your advice, it looks like the EA8500 has a build from both BS and Kong. Full support to my knowledge. And large threads full of people saying nothing but good things about it. The price point is competitive. Plus, I've installed dd-wrt on other Linksys routers in the past. So, feel more confident that will go smoothly.
BUT, please do correct me if I'm making an oversight again!

[Confirmed via FCC number that mine is a v1.]
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I just upoaded a fixed build. No change to the 5G part, it will not be supported, but 2.4G etc. is working again. _________________ KONG PB's: http://www.desipro.de/ddwrt/
