Hi guys,
My asus stopped working (no wifi, no web admin gui) so I put it on recovery mode, then used the recovery web page to upload dd-wrt.v24-26138_NEWD-2_K3.x-big-RT-N66U. The power led stopped the slow blinking and the router is unpingable. I left it for one night but I got no change. I rebooted the router manually and it was still in recovery mode. I tried with the latests firmware from asus but same thing happened.
I tried to flash it using tftp , same thing.
What are my options ?
Thanks .

After some trials I got another result using tftp flash.
After I uploaded this firmware (ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2015/02-04-2015-r26138/broadcom_K3X/dd-wrt.v24-26138_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega_RT-N66U.trx) the router stop responding to ping, the power led is not blinking anymore and I can't acceess to the asus web restoration page .I left it for 8 hours in this state and nothing changed . What should I do ?
Thanks.

I read the Peacock Thread announcement and found that note 6 has detail explanation and troubleshooting guide on bricked routers. I suggest you also take a look at that if you haven't done so and see if it helps. The Peacock Thread is the 3rd announcement at the top of the forum.

Use Asus recovery and go back to firm ,should be no problem am use it couple of times.Turn off ruter hold in reset button turn ruter on again whwn still hold reset inn.
Wait for off and on begin flashes, then you can leave reset now its clear for asusfirm. You must use network cabel to install firm again now its time to find asus recovert tftp

I have already tried using lastest asus firmware but after the reboot , the router is still in the recovery mode.
What is the smallest firmware that I can use to unbrick the router ?
Is using serial port an option here ?

Serial would be optimal because we can see what is happening.
There is a user in smallnetbuilder forum with the same problem as you.
Is that you posting there also?

The pins are already soldered on the board.

Follow the guide here. Pay attention to my statement in there about the adapter
https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Serial_Recovery

Before you flash it, post the log that you get when its hooked up to your serial setup and post it.

Did you read what I said?
This is from the link I gave you:

strfr stated: The "level shifting 3.3v TTL adapter" is must, you can't connect router straight to standard RS232 serial interface. Learned after hours of trying.. ;] Cheap CA-42 is all right, even the chinese clone with ARK3116 chip thus you will not find proper driver for Win7 64bit system. Windows XP mode is the solutions in such a case.
Malachi stated:
I have purchased a few of the Nokia clones that didn't work, for that reason I buy USB to uart adapters like these http://www.dx.com/p/usb-to-uart-5-pin-cp2102-module-serial-converter-81872#.VqrGiEo8KK0
