This build thread is for reporting successes and problem with loading this experimental test build. This is important info for developers and users. Always state your hardware and SPECIFIC build (e.g. 29440_NEWD-2_K2.6_mega-nv64k.bin). Do not ask questions about your specific router or how to configure it in this thread; create your own thread to discuss any specific problems you have or need resolved. Please also do not respond to such questions. This thread is to report info, not to seek it. Posts that do not add to understanding this build will be deleted. Make sure you know how to flash properly and the risk before using this build. It is important to adhere to these requirements, to keep this thread from becoming impossibly long and useless. If you don't know what build to flash and how to flash properly and have a means of recovery if things should go wrong, do NOT flash this experimental test build.

Router R8000
Firmware:DD-WRT v3.0-r30220M kongac (07/14/16)
Kernel:Linux 4.4.14 #135 SMP Thu Jul 14 23:34:04 CEST 2016 armv7l
Status:running
Dirty flash/cold boot

GUI up, VPN up, Wifi up.
The only thing so far that is weird is that all 5 connected wi-wi devices are connected to wl1. Normally at least the 2 galaxy S5's and the iPad are connected to either wl0 or wl2. Will have to keep an eye on this and see if anything connects to wl0 or 2. But I am psyched about the new tool chain 5.3.0 and have high hopes for this build.

Brian

Edit:
I went through the wireless settings pages and clicked save/apply settings and now the 2 Galaxy S5's are on wl2. Not sure if what I did affected it or it was just time. I also upped the tx power from 20mw to 25mw but that was after. I know that's low but I'm not trying to broadcast outside my house.

R8500
Dirty Flash - Cold Reboot

So far so good, one thing I did notice that one of the 5GHZ channels signal is fluctuating. This did not happen in the previous release.

Should I reset and manually put in my settings?

Kong is a reset recommended for this release???

Router Name: EA6900

Router Model: Linksys EA6900 (XVortex CFE)

Firmware Version: DD-WRT v3.0-r30220M (07/14/16)
Kernel Version: Linux 4.4.14 #135 SMP Thu Jul 14 23:34:04 CEST 2016 armv7l
Upgraded: from 29620M via telnet (upgrade via WebGui or DDUP not possible)

Reset: Yes, before and after (Erase NVRAM)

Configuration: AP, DHCP server, 2,4GHz wireless running, 5GHz disabled, some static leases and some port range forwarding, NVRAM size just below 32K (NVRAM size should not be a problem with the Xvortex CFE)

Status: Up and stable for 1 hour, good wireless speed and range, WAN throughput 40/4 (is my ISP's maximum)

Errors: none so far

Temperature is signifcantly lower than previous 30xxx versions and the same as 29620M. Memory usage is rising but slower than the previous 30xxx versions.
I keep an eye on memory usage and report back

Thanks Kong and BrainSlayer!!

Just a quick reply to say I think definitely YES, you need to reset. This version is giving me the same problem as 30000 when I went to that one without a reset: ip cameras going offline. Amazon Echo can't communicate with the light switch. Etc. I'm going to do a reset and manual setup in a few and will report back.

Edit: after resetting and setting up manually, followed by a full power off/on, everything is working fine now on my R8500.

Router-Modell: Netgear R7000

Kernel VersionLinux 4.4.14 #135 SMP Thu Jul 14 23:34:04 CEST 2016 armv7l

If you switch off 5Ghz Wlan or switch on one 2.4 Ghz Guest WLan then you will see that you run into a memleak and you run out of memory after around 2-3 Hrs.

A restart of my router after a Wlan changed fixed here the issue with the memleak and the ram usage remains stable.
Anyone can confirm that:

How to check:
Switch off 5Ghz or switch on 2.4 Ghz >Virtual Wlan.
--> save and apply settings via the Web UI buttons.
Connect via SSH and check via command free the ram usage.

--> you will see that your ram gets less and less.

--> restart the router and check the settings they are the same, check then via SSH and comand free again and you will see you ram usage stay

I know that a swithed off 5 GHz could be the cause of the mem leak, as stated this was with 5 GHz switched off.
I am now testing with 5GHz switched on, but I normally do not use 5GHz because of inferior range (large house concrete walls) and Wide 2,4GHz gives enoudh throughput.
So after testing I will go back to 29620M which did not have this strange behavior

I tried this on the R6400/R7000 both don't exhibit this problem, thus must be something else that triggers it. Can you pm me an nvram dump:

nvram show > nvramdump.txt

Router Buffalo WRZ-1750DHP
Firmware:DD-WRT v3.0-r30220M kongac (07/14/16)
Kernel:Linux 4.4.14 #135 SMP Thu Jul 14 23:34:04 CEST 2016 armv7l
Status:running
Dirty flash/cold boot

I was hopeful this new toolchain build would stop the freezing issue, but my unit just froze too after 2-3 hours while monitoring memory usage. No access to GUI/SSH or new DHCP clients. I keep 5G/2.4G permanently turned off, and only use the unit for routing/DHCP/QoS/Security. Can't hard reboot right now since I'm remote. I did have BS r30082 - 2016/07/01 installed prior to Kong r30220M, and I had 4-5 days solid uptime with BS. Rolling back for now..

Error: - Memory usage keeps increasing if the 5Ghz is disabled.
After enabling it, the memory usage drops to normal. This is present in all the firmwares with revision 3xxxxx.
This is not present is 29xxxx. I hope we can get this fixed.

Looks like there's a new Kong version; at least the time changed on his repo. Anyone tried the latest? Don't have time myself right now but will try later.

Normally I would flash right away, but I am at 13 hours and trying to see how long it will go without restarting. I do not disable the 5gh so I have no memory issues.

Brian

Edit:
Not sure if it's relevant, but in this build, the CPU load numbers look more consistent. In previous builds, I would sometimes see 0.00, 0.00, 0.00 which would mean the router is doing absolutely nothing.
