Hi all,

Is there a pin shorting technique to unbrick this router (Netgear R6300V1)? I have tried the USB/TTL serial port but could not get the the CFE prompt.

I wouldn't advise a PIN short on that router.
Sure you're all setup right with TTL?

google 'unbrick R6300V1' for lots info

This one popped up and looks interesting ---

I'm pretty sure I got the pin-out right. There's only 3 wires Tx to Rx, Rx to Tx, and GND to GND. I only got bargage ASCII characters back from the router @ 115200kbps,N,1 Stop bit Sad

I used the normal USB to RS232 adapter and that might be why it did not work. I have ordered a USB to TTL adapter and will try again with it Smile

I finally got the PL2303X USB to TTL adapter to try and fix it.

Unfortunately, there was no response from the router at all through hyperterm. So it's definitely bricked/dead Sad

Are you sure the USB to TTL adapter is working? Verify by connecting the adapter's RX and TX together and any characters you type should be echoed in Hyperterminal.

Yep. Already tried the loop back test (Tx to Rx) and got characters in Hyperterm so the adapter was working. I have both the USB to RS232 and TTL levels. The RS232 got garbage chars back and the TTL got nothing Sad

I used Putty and got relies correctly from the router. The problem was the Terminal software with Windows gave out garbage and did not read the text properly Smile
