Hey guys.. Got a good deal from a local retailer on the Netgear Nighthawk X8 (R8500)... and since we've been needing an upgrade in our small office, this was the right time.

Its our first Netgear router and while the interface is nice.. I prefer DD-WRT.

Several hours of reading have brought me to Kong's DD-WRT firmware for the R8500. Got it running flawlessly but I wasn't able to setup the Vlan configuration to connect to my ISP.

My ISP's configuration:
Connection mode: PPPOE
Vlan: 655
Priority 0

This is the vlan page(default)

On the networking tab.. For 'Tagging' I added Vlan0 Interface = Vlan2, Tag Number = 655, Prio = 0

For Port Setup, Wan Port Assignment = Vlan2

Network Configuration Vlan2 = Unbridged
Multicast Forwardng = Enable
Masquerade / NAT = Enable

Network Configuration Vlan2.655 = Unbridged
Multicast Forwardng = Enable
Masquerade / NAT = Enable

What am I missing that is causing the router to not connect to my ISP's network?[/img]

You cannot use vlan tag numbers beyond 15 on Broadcom units.

You can put a smart switch between.
