The game i used for testing was The Specialists 3.0 for half life. in a nutshell, its action movies meets deathmatch.
I used my main computer since its the fastest in the house. specifications are below. I will, for now, call this computer "COREi".
COREi
CPU: Core i5 3570k @4.4ghz (been stable for years already)
RAM: 8gb ddr3 1600mhz
Mobo: Asrock Extreme4 z77
NIC: Intel Gigabit CT
Storage: WD Black 2TB with an 64gb SSD intel SRT boosting it.
First thing i did was connect COREi to WDS STATION and connected to nuke silo the arena. the latency went from 71 to 92. On the old broadcom router setup i used to have, it used to be around 71-77. So i tried running an ethernet line from my room to WDS AP and still got the same result.
Then i tried running a couple of speed tests on dsl reports html5 speed test utility and used it to configure QOS in an attempt to lower the latency and also treat the buffer bloat. reconnected COREi to the same nuke silo server and was still getting the same latency results.
The next thing i did was test my game server. we will call this "HLDS1"
just like with the first test, i connected HLDS1 to WDS STATION and had COREi to HLDS1 and i sent out friend invites for people to come on my server. After my friends connected to the server and played for a while, one player from ohio had a latency of 100 and was having "registry issues" which is basically the server registering your hits on other players, another from the california said that he had a few 10 second lag freezes and then they went out, and another from arizona said they were having the same 10 second lag freeze.
After everyone disconnected because life reasons, i asked my friend from ohio again to tell me what the latency was and he said 100. After i disconnected HLDS1 from WDS station and connected it to WDS AP via ethenet like i did with COREi, i tried to ask him again what the latency was but he did not respond. so we may as well assume it was maybe 1-3 ms lower when it should be around 90 or less.
From what i am seeing, there is still progress to be made on the R7800 in terms of latency.

Status: Web upgrade bricked router. Recovered via TFTP. Factory to dd-wrt went fine.
Reset: yes
Errors: Besides flashing procedure, all is fine.
Web upgrade from last build bricked the router. I could recover it doing the TFTP recovery with a bootloader-stripped version of the stock firmware. After that, flashing the latest build from factory went fine.
Build seems good so far: Best transmitting power I have ever seen until now (specially in a WR841ND v9 that I also have).
