Hi There,

This topic may have already been covered, however I'm unable to find any info on the Following.

My service provider has supplied me with a router of which I'd like to replace with my NETGEAR R9000 Nighthawk X10 after Flashing the router with Kong I can't find the VLAN ID Column.

How can I configure the Nighthawk X10 after having it Flashed with Kong so that the 4 requirements from the Service Provider are met....they are

VLAN ID
CLone MAC Address of 000000000000
MTU Size
PPPoE WAN Access type.

I'd Appreciate any advice for this stupid question.

Thanks in Advance

I have problems with VLANs and PPPoE over R9000 (like you)... Don't find any solution.
Please read this post...http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=1083442#1083442
And the pages 24 & 25 of the same post... And if you find the correct configuration please post then

I'll try to look into it a bit more and try different configurations...I've already spent 3days trying to get it work and it's sad to think that I have both the NetGear NightHawk X10 and the ASUS AC5300 and unable to use them to the full extent.

AC5300 should be super easy with MerlinWRT or without. You just setup VLAN ID under LAN/IPTV tab and that's it. I wish it would be so simple with DD-WRT (R9000).

Maybe helpful ... this is my understanding of the port assignment of Switch0:

Port 0: CPU?, VLAN 1, tagged
Port 1: LAN 2, VLAN 1
Port 2: LAN 1, VLAN 1
Port 3: WAN, VLAN 2
Port 4: ?, VLAN 1, tagged
Port 5: ?, VLAN 2, tagged
Port 6: ?, VLAN 1, tagged

Thanks DeXB,

It worked on the ASUS AC5300 Router...You are a STAR! Smile

There were a few other settings required and I'm going to try it on the NightHawk X10...It's taken me more than a Month to get this far...that's on and off as I don't always have the time at home.

Now for the few other issues if you guys can help!

I found that my service providers Router giving me a download 50MB/s and my AC5300 is giving me 32MB/s...Is there anything to do with the settings of MerlinWRT?...or is it that the ASUS AC5300 router is slow?...thought it would be one of the better ones?

For all you guys that need to know how I did it, I will post pics of all the steps...please just give me time...and for "coiae" - I'll work on the NightHawk X10 and see what I come up with!

I'm not a pro, I've just been trying different settings and combinations...(Yes...Thousands of combinations)

Chat Soon!

Please share how did you understand that?
And what's more important - how these ports are mapped to the port numbers on the back of router?

WAN is WAN port on the back of the router Smile
LAN 1 is port 1 on the back of the router (next to WAN port)
LAN 2 is port 2 on the back of the router

Ports 3 to 6 on the back of the router are on Switch1 ... here is how I understand the assignments on Switch1:

Port 0: CPU?, VLAN 1, tagged
Port 1: LAN 6, VLAN 1
Port 2: LAN 5, VLAN 1
Port 3: LAN 4, VLAN 1
Port 4: LAN 3, VLAN 1
Port 5: ?, VLAN 1, tagged
Port 6: Not used

The port assignment can be found here: http://svn.dd-wrt.com/browser/src/router/services/sysinit/sysinit-alpine.c#L246

Sure I saw this in R9000 topic

Would you please summarize this:

kammerma wrote:

Port 2: LAN 1, VLAN 1

Port 6: ?, VLAN 1, tagged

and this

Port 5: ?, VLAN 1, tagged
Port 6: Not used

and what CLI says, so that it would be totally clear... cause...there is no port6 in CLI, you can't configure switch1 through CLI (it's not allowed),
next what is eth0, eht1, eth2 and which ports does it consist of?
why there is no vlan2 in CLI (it seems it's vlan1), and no vlan1 (it seems it's vlan0)?
it's all looks like a mess and it is very confusing.

Sorry, but I am really out of ideas of how to make quite simple task - to bridge WAN port to Port1 (for IPTV STB that requires intranet IP and be out of NAT) and the rest ports to get connected to Internet through vlan10 (that is transmitted by the uplink router).

Not that simple a task Smile And sorry, I am not proficient enough to actually solve your problem. Here are a few pointers, though.

swconfig list : Shows available switches of your router

swconfig dev switch0 help : Shows attributes that can be configures (on switch0, same for switch1)

swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 10 : Enables vlan 10 on switch0

swconfig dev switch0 vlan 10 set ports "0t 1t 2t 4t 6t" : Maps ports 0, 1, 2, 4, 6 to vlan 10, all tagged

vconfig add eth1 10 : Adds vlan 10 to eth1 (eth1 is used for LAN, eth2 for WAN)

Here is a simple example how to add LAN ports 1, 2 to vlan10 and add vlan10 to br1 (maintains WAN / vlan 2):

swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 10
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 1 set ports "0t 1t 2t 4t 6t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 2 set ports "3 5t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 10 set ports "0t 1t 2t 4t 6t"
swconfig dev switch0 set apply
vconfig add eth1 10
ifconfig vlan10 up
brctl addif br1 vlan10

Hope that somehow helps ... maybe some experts in the field can chime in.

I just got this working, my ISP needs are:

DHCP
IPV4/IPV6 (haven't enabled 6 yet)
VLAN10 tagging

My startup script:

# Setup VLANS

# Switch0 Config
swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 1
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 1 set ports "0t 1 2 4t 6t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 10 set ports "3t 5t"
swconfig dev switch0 set apply

# Switch1 Config
swconfig dev switch1 set enable_vlan 1
swconfig dev switch1 vlan 1 set ports "0t 1 2 3 4 5t"
swconfig dev switch1 set apply

# Assign WAN to VLAN10 and up
vconfig add eth2 10
ifconfig vlan10 up

Working for me...

Hi to all,

I tried for weeks to configure VLAN in R9000 with kong release ( DD-WRT v3.0-r33342 std (09/09/17). I'm trying to tag fiscal LAN PORT1 to VLAN10 & defualt vlan, and permit to have internet access.

swconfig dev switch0 set enable_vlan 10
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 1 set ports "0t 1 2 4t 6t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 2 set ports "3 5t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 10 set ports "0t 2t 4t 6t"
swconfig dev switch0 set apply
vconfig add eth1 10
ifconfig vlan10 192.168.99.1 netmask 255.255.255.0
ifconfig vlan10 up

iptables -I INPUT -i vlan10 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -i vlan2 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I FORWARD -i vlan10 -o vlan2 -m state --state NEW -j ACCEPT
iptables -I FORWARD -i vlan2 -o vlan10 -m state --state NEW -j ACCEPT

I've ping to VLAN10 from ddwrt (and from VLAN10 to ddwrt VLAN10 interface) but no internet access from the VLAN10. Any help?

Thanks!!

One thing you need to do is tag port 2 in VLAN 1:

swconfig dev switch0 vlan 1 set ports "0t 1 2t 4t 6t"

Or alternatively, remove it from VLAN 1 (and do not tag it in VLAN 10):

swconfig dev switch0 vlan 1 set ports "0t 1 4t 6t"
swconfig dev switch0 vlan 10 set ports "0t 2 4t 6t"
