I've hacked together a working build mirroring the 33345 release in the DD-WRT website for the D-Link DIR-868L and this file should work for the DIR-880L router as well. You can download the firmware from the link below:

https://app.box.com/s/6ol5uriy9rc9fnkznljfshgd1ofghldm

File checksum as below:
MD5 - 23f4bbc82bbcc05762ac60207269ff23
SHA256 -b3cca6bb466a16a73e947d53aa5ffa3806d648cb8dfc3766404cef82d69338c4

This file works fine on my DIR-868L Rev A, with minimal testing done. I have yet to test it on my DIR-880L as it is my main Internet router, but both routers are essentially the same internally.

I would not recommend running this build if you depend on your current DIR-868L or DIR-880L as your sole home router without any backup.

Wireless configurations GUI is incorrect for the 5GHz interface as it shows a 160MHz band option, which the DIR-868L does not have the hardware to support, although wireless seems to work fine.

Tor and Transmission are not compiled in as I'm trying to save space and I don't need them as well. If you really need them, install a USB stick and get them via Entware-NG.

Have fun!

I forgot to mention also that this build allows full 4096 VIDs for VLANs, which I need as my ISP implements VLANs for Internet access.

Unfortunately the dd-wrt GUI does not really allow configuration of VLANs VID greater than 15, so some scripting during router startup will be required.

Have fun!

Awesome news, Quark! No back up here, but I will definitely take the plunge when I see the results a friend of mine gets with it. He has 4 of them, but I depend on only 1 (for now) and can't have the rest of the house old screaming their heads off if I need to do surgery and serial in Laughing

Lol, yeah, I guess it can be depending on the situation. If my son acts up or something then I'll have a reason to give him some down time and not feel bad about it Twisted Evil

Regardless, this is pretty much what it will sound like, especially if they're playing CoD or Minecraft or FB'ing.

Hi folks,

I've uploaded another build here:

https://app.box.com/s/b4v1s342ef2dpd52j02lqtuzi1oiipco/folder/38154548439

ddwrt-webflash-dir868-880-r33345a-patched.bin

This version fixed the USB auto mount bug, which is important to me Smile

When you download, please make sure you verify the checksum against the sha256sum.txt file to ensure that the downloaded file is not corrupted.

I've also received report that the build I upload works for DIR-880L as well, so for those we feels adventurous enough, do give it a go.

This build should also work for the following D-Link routers:

DIR860
DIR868
DIR880
DIR885
DIR890
DIR895

I have not tested it against the above routers other than DIR868, but from the build files I downloaded from DD-WRT's SVN servers, the firmware images are identical for the above routers.

As usual, I would not advice to try if you do not have a backup router.

Have fun!

Thanks for all the great work quarkysg. I would love to try your build but I am dependent on an old build for my only working router. I'm sure many others on here would be willing to try.

Brilliant work quarkysg!

I'll try it on my 868l rev A router and report back with results.

Thank you very much.

Thanks for the hard work - I really want to try this on my 880L but it's my main router so I will stick with the 30432 build for now.

Quark, I now have it on my 880 and so far so good for the last 10 hours or so. SSH/Telnet enabled. No issues. VLANs, no issues. No reboots. Tested a bunch of different modes in the Set Up page just to see what would happen, disabled wireless, enabled it again and all's well. USB working fine too.

Hi Wetzel,
I am having difficulties in creating VLANs using new firmware. Maybe I am new to DD-WRT.

I used CLI as GUI not works well. Everytime I save and applied in VLAN tab, my Internet LED change to amber light.

root@MYROUTERDD:~# nvram show | grep vlan.*ports
size: 43634 bytes (21902 left)
vlan2ports=4 5u
vlan0ports=1 2 3 4 5*
vlan1ports=0 1 2 3 5*

root@MYROUTERDD:~# nvram show | grep port.*vlans
size: 43634 bytes (21902 left)
port5vlans=0 1 16
port3vlans=0
port1vlans=0
port4vlans=0
port2vlans=0
port0vlans=1

root@MYROUTERDD:~# nvram show | grep vlan.*hwname
size: 43634 bytes (21902 left)
vlan2hwname=et0
vlan1hwname=et0
vlan0hwname=et0
root@MYROUTERDD:~#

Here is my CLI to creat new VLAN3 and assigned to port 2.
nvram set vlan0ports="1 3 4 5*"
nvram set vlan3ports="2 5*"
nvram set vlan3hwname=et0
nvram commit
reboot

After reboot, I can't reach to 192.168.1.1.
There is no issue whenever I create bridge and NETWORKING tab. As soon as I create VLAN or assigned VLAN to port in VLAN tab, the amber ligh changed in Internet connection.

Can you please share me your VLAN config.
I am able to use separate subnets with Wifi, not with LAN port.

My goal is to assign separate subnets in one of the port from (1-4).

HI myogysig,

You should use the GUI to configure VLANs if you only want to separate your LAN ports into different network segments. Using CLI is kind of messy and very easy to make mistake. The attached PNG file shows what I did using the DD-WRT GUI. Once I applied, vlan1 (port 1,2,3), vlan2 (wan port) and vlan3 (port 4) interface will be created by the firmware automatically.

Note that you should move all ports away from VLAN0 as that is meant for administrative purposes and I guess that's what probably tripping you.

Reset your router to factory default using the GUI and try it out.

Good luck!

I spend whole yesterday to get it work.
It works perfectly now.

Have a nice day, man!

I upgrade my 4 880l's to this code and so far everything is working. I used the first version and then the second one fixing the USB issues.

I have ssh enabled as well and no "Blinking" death after reboot...

Thank you.

Could you comment on what you did to make this work? Was it just making the BIN file smaller by removing TOR?
