Hello

I have TP-Link TL-WR740N v4 router with DD-WRT v3.0-r28647 (01/02/16) firmware

I am trying to setup a repeater for the main AP a cisco modem.

when I connect from my PC the modem give me an automatic IP adress like 172.19.54.4, If I try to change it manually to 5 or 230 or any other IP he won't give me access to internet

Now my problem is in DD-WRT I have to put a Local IP Address in Network Setup, when I put any random IP in the same range (172.19.54.xx) dd-wrt won't get access and any other devices connected through the repeater

It's been 3 days that I am testing all of different things, client mode, mac clone and giving dd-wrt my PC IP, dhcp forwarder ... but nothing worked for me

I searched for some solution to make DD-WRT get a DHCP lease automatically like my computer does but I couldn't found anything

one more thing, when I type ifconfig there is another br0:0 interface

Quote:

br0:0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr –--------
inet addr:169.--.---.--- Bcast:169.---.--.--- Mask:255.255.0.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1

while br0 have the IP that I typed in network setup (172.19.54.xx)

How can I fix it ?

I don't think it is possible to give the repeater a DHCP lease, it must be a static predefined (on the repeater) ip.

Check out this page: https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Linking_Routers#Repeater_.2F_Repeater_Bridge

See if one of those options fits your needs.

Hi,
I suggest you to try this guide. It was the solution for me after spent lots of hours trying other modes. I think its your best bet.
