Hello,

i have a Netgear R6400 with original Netgear firmware.

Hardwareversion R6400
Firmwareversion V1.0.1.24_1.0.18
GUI Sprachversion V1.0.1.24_2.1.38.1

Now i will flash a ddwrt firmware on this Router. Can you help me which ddwrt firmware is the "best" firmware for my R6400 Router?

I will not brick my Router. Can i flash for example a ddwrt firmware file with wifi connect on the laptop? Or i must connect my laptop with the LAN Cable to my Router an then flash the ddwrt firmware?

Check feedback

Better do it over LAN.

Which Kong Firmware you use? The Test Version?

dd-wrt.K3_R6400.chk 2017-09-20 00:45 23M

or this Version?

dd-wrt.K3_R6400.chk 2017-06-11 13:14 22M

I connectet my Laptop with the LAN Cable on the Router and make a factory reset on the Netgear Gui. Then i flash this file "dd-wrt.K3_R6400.chk" on the Netgear Gui and the DDWRT Gui automaticly restartet?

And then on the DDWRT Gui make again a factory reset. Thats all?

Then i can configuire my Router on DDWRT Firmwre?

Once you're running DD, for updates you can log in over telnet/ssh and wget the firmware and manually flash it. I think the Kong firmware's ddup utility does this; regular BS builds do not have 'ddup'. But yes from OEM (and DD GUI) you definitely should use LAN cable.

Yes start with the *.chk version
After uploading and rebooting, telnet into your router and issue: erase nvram

I use the test version which is working

To upgrade telnet into your router:ddup --flash-latest

hello,

i have flashed the new kong test build on my Netgear R6400 succesfully and after with nvram reset with telnet.

But my question is, which are the best settings for my R6400?

I have problem with Wlan connecting 2,4GHZ and 5GHZ

What i must configuire for best Connecting?

The AC Speed is very slow. With Stock Firmware my Smartphone Samsung Note 4 can conected with 866MHZ and with DDWRT only 360-400 Mbtis?

Leave the Advanced Wireless settings at default; try changing the Wireless Network Mode.
Does your wireless page have an Ack Timing option? If so try setting to 0.

This are my settings. But i don't know which are the best.

I have Internet Connection from 200Mbits from my Provider.

With Netgear Stock Firmware u have constantly 200Mbits download with no problems with 5GHZ Connectoon.

Now with new ddwrt Kong Firmware i have only 90-120Mbits Speed. Why?

Can everyone help me for Tipps?

Did you issue nvram erase or erase nvram? If it's the former then you did nothing.

For the 2.4 Ghz, use only channel 1, 6 or 11

The 5 GHz looks OK, if not neighbours are on channel 120.
