I have a Linksys e3000 with dd-wrt r34080 K3x installed. I just updated from r23919 to see if this would change my situation, but it appears the issue is the same.

The issue is WiFi performance on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz are negatively impacted if I also have 100Mbit link transferring data via the e3000's switch. WiFi performance does not appears to be impacted if I transfer data via 1Gbit links on the e3000's switch.

I am serving data via a Freenas running at 1Gbit. I can stream a movie just fine to my phone via 5Ghz WiFi. I have a Raspberry Pi connected via a 100Mbit Ethernet link. The video sources I have stream at about 35Mbit/s. With nothing outputting to the RPi on the 100Mbit link, I get about 89Mbit/s top end performance to my phone. Since the video I am playing only needs 35, everything works fine. However if I also play another video to the Raspberry Pi, the Wifi performance to my phone drops to about 20-25Mbit/s. This only occurs when there is also data going through the e3000 on a 100Mbit. To make sure it wasn't just the Rpi causing the WiFi to drop out. I limited a computer I have to connect via Ethernet to only 100Mbit, and any data transferring on this link caused the WiFi to drop. This negative performance impacts both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz connections. I'm sitting maybe 10 feet from the AP. Its also not interference because my WiFi performance returns to normal the moment I stop data transfers on the 100Mbit link.

My Freenas server is more than capable to serve data to my network. If I use other devices not using 100Mbit links I can play many movies at once. At its peak it'll saturate a 1Gbit link.

So, my questions are:
1. Anyone else seen this where data transferred on 100Mbit links also causes the wifi on the e3000 to be crippled?
2. What extra processing goes on in a switch when data comes in at 1Gbit and goes out at 100Mbit. I'm only transferring about 35Mbit/s so both sides are big enough for the data.
3. Any other devices have this issue?(just curious)

I thought I'd post this since I have been considering upgrading my router. Its old and has been working faithfully. I too have had slow performance, and thought I'd post my findings to see if you had any info to either eliminate this or just pull the trigger to upgrade my device.

Device: Linksys e3000
Firmware: dd-wrt.v24-34080_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e3000 (works pretty good, just had to reboot a few times, the interface didn't find wl1 although I could still connect on it) Seems good now.
As of yesterday 12/27/2017, I was using dd-wrt.v24-23919_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e3000 for the last 3 years.
Reset: No
CPU Overclocked: 533MHz - I tried this to see if it would help, but no change. I was running stock 480MHz and the same slowdown occurs.
Wireless is bridged to LAN and Lan is VLAN1 eth1,2,3,4.
I do have both 2.4 and 5Ghz radios set to channel width 40MHz. Both are set to N-Only
Wireless encryption set to WPA2-Personal AES
I have 2 firewall iptable entries, they are just to help YouTube play correctly.
iptables -I INPUT 2 -p udp --sport 67 --dport 68 -j ACCEPT
iptables -I INPUT -p udp --sport 67 --dport 68 - j ACCEPT

Thanks for any info!
I've used dd-wrt for about 5 years now and a big thanks to everyone!

I would update your wireless settings, N-only is broken, don't use it.
